STATE OF EDUCATION IN NIGERIA: Certificate vs Serbificate
It is not news to what is going on in the country… if you are a graduate and ever been thru the four walls of the university then it is not news neither is it strange to you hearing about ASUU and their consistent traditional routine of strikes year in year out. ASUU is an acronym which stands for Academic staff union of university in NIGERIA.
Just of recent I saw on the net, heard it on Radio and probably you’ve heard it too, ASUU demanding 1Trillion from Feds, I laughed and said to myself in this country NIGERIA …how is that even possible?.. are we really serious here
You might have thought that you’re out of the web but somehow the tread still lingers because all this nonchalant attitude of Feds over the Educational sector is so DEMEANING and downgrading our CERTIFICATE as it’s worth nothing beyond the shores of this country…even to neighboring African countries, you need to take a fresh course all over to back your cert. The worst is going to European or western countries ….our. B.sC CERTIFICATE *b like waec cert. loosing value like the Naira each day
Okay let’s come back home…. honestly speaking it breaks my heart to see fresh graduate roaming around for 2-3,4 years searching for jobs, then if they could get one, the demand would come with 5 years or atleast 2-3 years experience making it very difficult to access jobs….even in our country it is gradually taking a different narratives, you must at least top your B.sC with a M.A degree to get a decent job…..
CERTIFICATE vs SERBIFICATE…the new wave
The first time I heard that word I so laughed hard because this is what has been but I never saw it this way… kudos to whoever coined that out… it is not news the way things run in this country meanwhile Fresh graduate roaming around seeking jobs, taking risk to get one as was the case of Late Ini Umoren who unfortunately fell victim to her predators while job hunting, the so call companies demanding 10years of experience, while there are some cruising with their serbificates, seat-warming offices occupying positions they know nothing about, because of who they know, or someone they know that knows someone who knows some else that is related to the ***OGA-at-THE-TOP and so while you stress, depriving self at school, doing every thing possible to beat the odds and make a 2.2 or 2.1 only to come out and realize that it was not worth it
My point exactly I’m currently doing my finals my four-year course turned six, shattered by the pandemic and also strike there after in early 2020..and I’ve spent all these years frustrated, annoyed, by the government of the day, meanwhile there is little or no glimpse of hope waiting for me….and so I asked myself is it worth it in the first place?
Just of Recent NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN STUDENT(NANS) took to the street to protest and draw the attention of the feds and ASUU to settle their differences and stop jeopardizing the future of the NIGERIA students, but am Afraid to go out cause the last time there was a protest of young unarmed youth, it turned out to be a genocide
If the cert. is not worth it at least free up the system let’s be done with and start whatever alternative plan we have….I mean it is not new seeing graduate after a day full of frustration will resolve to being a fashion designer or drives the popular tricycle or subscribe to other forms of odd jobs just to survive cause the so called CERTIFICATE can’t pay the bills….
Thankyou For coming this far with me, I appreciate you for not missing any commas or full stop.
