Wednesday Walk: Murder in the Wood?

For my #wednesdaywalk initiated by @tattoodjay, I took my friend's pooch for a walk down to Redhill Common, which is a small nature reserve. I have been getting more used to going over the road using the bridge that leads to the common. I don’t like heights, but now this walk doesn't bother me as much.
However, I always make sure to keep the pooch on the lead until we get to the other side of the bridge. If he were to run across, it would make the bridge bounce, which I don't like at all. So, I hold on tight to the lead and keep him close to me until we are safely on solid ground.

Once we are on the common, the pooch and I have a good time trying out all the different footpaths, mainly to get away from other dog walkers. When you are walking someone else's pooch you like to keep them safe.

The blackberry season is coming to a close. While I spotted a few ripe berries left on the bushes, most of them were unripe.

Suddenly, the quietness was interrupted by a bit of a commotion up ahead in the trees. I saw a woman who was struggling with her dog, who had found a bone and then refused to let it go. She was convinced that the bone was too large to be from an animal. I thought she'd probably read too many crime novels as it didn't look too big to me. After the dog finally dropped the bone, she examined the bone, and then told me, "it smells like lamb." So, no humans had been murdered on the common after all! As I carried on walking, I did think what a random meeting that was!

Some bushes had been cut down to make a clearance in the wooded area. I'm not sure why but less places for the pooch to pee up!

Thankfully, there wasn’t many more people out today. Even though the sun came out, it was actually drizzling with rain, so only a few hardcore dog walkers about.

Overall, taking my friend's dog for a walk down to Redhill Common is always a good time to get some fresh air, and spend time with a furry friend. I may not like going over the bloody bridge, but it's worth it in the end.
