This Wednesday Walk Visits the Codnor Park Reservoir

As the rain clouds loomed overhead, I decided to have a quick walk before the weather changed, so I headed down to the Codnor Park Reservoir for a circular walk for my #wednesdaywalk initiated by @tattoodjay.

I stopped for a moment to watch the coots feeding their chicks.

It was nice to see some wild raspberries on the way. I couldn't resist the temptation, so I reached out to pluck one from its stem. They were ripe as they popped off the core quite easily. Yummy!

I've sometimes seen moorhens standing on the lower branches of trees, but I've never seen a moorhen chick attempting this feat. It had great balance.

There was a lovely sweet smell from the yellow honeysuckle. Unfortunately, this year I have not seen much of it.

As I carried along the footpath, a couple of swans went past with their six cygnets. They have done well to raise six as some don't make it after the first couple of weeks.

As I made my way back to my car, I caught sight of a couple of great crested grebes. I only usually see one, so it was good to see a pair on the water.

It was a nice gentle walk, and the people here are quite friendly. They all seemed happy to chat as I walked around.

Lovely walk! Wild raspberries! Yummy. Lovely honeysuckles. I used to have one plant but somehow it died.
Nature is bountiful there!

I might get some honeysuckle for the communal garden. It smells lovely.
