Tasty Brunch and Coffee at Cintra's Tearoom
Situated in the lovely village of Hathersage, Cintra's Tearoom stood out to us with its eye-catching exterior, a diver and a shark on the wall nonetheless.
Every year, local villages host a scarecrow competition, where local businesses and residents show their creativity by making scarecrows to put on display in the village. It was good to see the café joining in. Well, I'm hoping that was the reason and not something strange going on.
We had to wait just inside the door to be seated. It was too cold to sit out in the garden, and it wasn't much warmer inside. Summer still evades us. It was also a little basic inside, but everyone was nice and friendly.
The latte and the black americano looked nice and frothy. The coffee beans are from the Heavenly Coffee Company based in the nearby city of Sheffield. The coffees did indeed taste heavenly, and the cakes are all baked at the café by Gary, their award winning baker.
I couldn't resist having a vegetarian sausage cob with scrambled egg and mushrooms on brown bread.
The bill arrived under what looked like a home made Kermit the frog. Perhaps it's to distract you from the cost of the food and drink?? It was all reasonably priced though, so I thought Kermit was a nice touch.

Very nice coffee in a Tea room! So, it’s still chilly in summer month there! Here it’s wet and rainy as the monsoon rain kept coming in from the ocean.
Nice and simple interior design of this place; it reminded me of what I was used to see in the old days.
It just goes to show, you don't judge a place on its decor.
No, unfortunately we haven't had much of a summer. Hopefully, we will get a good week before autumn arrives!
