Coffee at The Pavilion

Today, we decided to try out another café we'd not been in before, called 'The Pavilion'. As we drove into the car park, we noticed a man double checking with everyone to make sure they were going to the café. Further up the road, there was a country fair, and everyone was trying to find a cheeky car parking space for the day for free, and this car park was reserved for customers only.

The café is aptly named as it's right next to the local village cricket pitch. There was indoor and outdoor seating available for when the sun shone. Today, it was a bit of a mix weatherwise, warm but overcast, so we went indoors.

It was a nice atmosphere inside and the staff, who were all volunteers, made us feel right at home. We were careful walking across the floor as it was uneven. It was flooded out a while ago and the floor got damaged. Anyway, we quickly managed to get a table next to the window, which offered a perfect view of the cricket pitch. Unfortunately, there wasn't a game on today. There was a plaque on the wall that read 'this is our happy place', and I couldn't agree more. Any good coffee shop is indeed my happy place.

We ordered a veggie fry-up, a bacon cob, and toast with jam washed down with lattes. The food was cooked to perfection and tasted good. Ideal comfort food.

There was a big television screen in the corner showing nature programmes. Unfortunately, the volume was a bit too loud for my liking. Especially when nobody was watching it. The place was nice enough without it.

It was a café I could easily return to. It was even better that we managed to miss the grumpy chap that we'd heard volunteered there. He's becoming a bit of a legend for all the wrong reasons!
