Bodnant Garden, Tal-y-cafn, Colwyn Bay, Wales, UK

While we are in Llandudno we called in at Bodnant Garden which is a National Trust property near Tal-y-Cafn, Conwy, Wales.

The prices for adults was £16.50 (gift aid), £15.00 standard and free entry for National Trust members with over 80 acres of garden to explore.

In the summer, there is a beautiful laburnum arch in full bloom. Unfortunately, we've come at the wrong time of the year but still plenty of other things to see.

We stayed nearer the house to start off with. The rose terraces, and the views over the lily ponds with the pink lilies were lovely.

The Pin Mill has an interesting history as it was originally built as a lodge or garden house around 1730 at Woodchester, Gloucestershire. It was later
used for many things such as a pin factory and a hide store for a tannery. The 2nd Baron Aberconway, Henry McLaren bought the mill, dismantled it and then took it to Bodnant to have it reassembled there in the garden in 1938. Source

The cascading bridge waterfall in the Dell that you can walk over.

There is a lot to see in the gardens, ponds, lilies, waterfalls, terraces, and bird life. There are different walks, but some steep hills, so you have to plot your route carefully. There are plenty of seats, though, to catch your breath or to take in the beautiful scenery.

There's lots of autumnal colours from the many trees. There's chestnut, beech, oak and American conifers.

Throughout the walk, there were plenty of bird feeders with lots of birds having a good feed. Not one gull in sight!

After we'd had a good walk round we had a look in the garden centre area and the shops. I didn’t buy anything, though, as I thought I might kill the plants before I got home.

This is an exquisite site, really gorgeous. I could spend my whole day just sitting near the waterfall or in front of the Lilly pond. I often prefer such kind of places to visit and spend a day...

Especially in autumn. I think it's my favourite time of the year.
