A Walk Down the Erewash Canal
We had a walk down the Erewash Canal today. The canal is very popular for walking and cycling.
It is just under 12 miles long and has 14 locks. The canal was built to carry coal from the Erewash Valley. Restoration has been taking place and there are plans to restore the whole of the canal.
There was a few swans cadging food from passers-by.
Some of the canal was frozen over, as this young cygnet found out.
We ended up walking past Bennerley Viaduct that we visited last week. It has recently been restored after 54 years of closure.
