A Visit to Snettisham Nature Reserve, Norfolk, UK

During a recent trip to Norfolk, we decided to visit Snettisham Nature Reserve on the coast. This beautiful place offers stunning views of lagoons, salt marshes, and mud flats where birds congregate to roost.

There was a nice fresh sea breeze as we walked along the well-maintained footpaths.

We spotted an egret fishing for food. They are usually seen around the estuaries and coastal areas.

As we got closer, we could see this bird was a godwit, a largish wading bird with a long, curved bill. I've never actually seen one before.

The greylag goose is also quite common in these areas with their orange beaks and pink/orange legs.

We saw some butterflies fluttering from flower to flower. This one is called a gatekeeper, brown with orange patches and a spot on each wing. It can be very frustrating waiting for butterflies to land so you can get a photo.

Overall, our visit to Snettisham Nature Reserve was an interesting experience. It is nice to get out in nature to unwind a little, do a little bird watching and to see the lovely scenery that Norfolk has to offer.
