A Visit to Llandudno in Wales, UK
Last month, we had the pleasure of visiting Llandudno in Wales for a short break. Llandudno is a seaside town located on the north coast of Wales. It has lovely beaches, Victorian architecture, and stunning views of the Great Orme, which is a massive limestone headland that overlooks the town.
One of the highlights of our trip was taking a ride on the Great Orme Tramway, a cable-operated tramway that takes visitors to the summit of the Great Orme.
Afterwards, as we made our way through the town of Conwy, our eyes were drawn to the very imposing Conwy Castle that stands on the hill overlooking the town and the River Conwy. It is a medieval fortress built in the late 13th century by King Edward I.
Last year, two new promenade shelters were placed on Llandudno’s North Shore, with funding from the Welsh Government’s Brilliant Basics Scheme. These replaced the old ones that were showing signs of age.
The Ferris Wheel on the pier stands approximately 70 feet tall. However, despite it looking great, especially when it is lit up at night, I wouldn't dare go on it. The thought of being that high above the ground, swinging back and forth in a gondola, is enough to make my palms sweat!
A feature of Llandudno Beach is its closeness to the Great Orme.
We found a painted pebble on the beach. The artist has more artistic talent than me. We picked it up and rehid it elsewhere.
Another interesting feature of Llandudno Beach is the many crabs that can be seen scurrying along the shoreline.
Overall, our visit to Llandudno was an enjoyable experience. The weather, even though it was overcast, it wasn't too bad. I think my favourite activity was riding on the tram, with panoramic views from the top.
