A Visit to Dragon’s Back and Tegg's Nose!

On our way to Tegg's Nose Country Park, we passed Parkhouse and Chrome Hill, which is commonly called the 'dragon's back', as it resembles the spine of a stegosaurus dinosaur. Source

From the country park, we set off on our walk to Tegg's Nose which is a hill near Macclesfield in Cheshire, UK. On old maps the area is actually known as 'Tegge's Naze'. There are a few explanations as to why it was called this, one being it might have come from Tegge, an early Norse Settler or that the hill looked like a sheep or 'teg'. SourceIt was a steady walk, until we had to climb some steps and walk up the hill, that thankfully, flattened out at the top.

This area was used for quarrying from the 1500s to 1955. There are still items of machinery there.

There was a welcome bench at the top to stop and have a breather and take in the lovely views.

We eventually arrived on the footpath that runs around Tegg’s Nose. Apparently, they do rock climbing and abseiling here.

On our return journey, we had a nice, easy walk down the hill and back to the car park.

Very interesting place for a walk! That mountain does look like a sleeping dragon. Perhaps it’s a big chunk of fossils!! 🙀😂
