Monday On A Tuesday?…….My Actifit Report Card: March 19 2024
If you’ve read my posts before, you may know that generally (that’s a loose term lately) I work Wednesday through Friday. Therefore, my Monday is usually a Wednesday. However today, I had to fill in for Yana, who’s been filling in for Vera. Hence my Monday on a Tuesday.
I did get a lot done, but extra time I find is never really enough. That leaves me frustrated with no answer in sight. The doc hired a gal to assist me on Thursdays, but then he decided to work half a day every Thursday. So, in a nutshell, he took away time I used for administration. Having her there is a huge help but she isn’t an optician and doesn’t know billing and various other things. Whereas I can train her, but with what extra time? To complicate matters Vera was in an accident and hasn’t been at work. Yana was taking her Mondays and Tuesdays, but she too will have some things coming up in the near future. So short of me working on a day when the clinic isn’t open (Saturday or Sunday) there isn’t an answer for me. Honestly, I don’t want to work the weekend either. If anyone has an idea or sees some kind of simple solution, please tell me.
Tomorrow is a fully booked day so it will be busy as well.
On to more pleasant things…..the weather here has been stellar with lots of sun and almost like summertime temperatures! It’s been lovely for sure however, it is still March! Today is the first official day of spring, but for tomorrow for us, it might be a bit like winter again. Albeit a warm winter, but for at least the next 7 days, it’s supposed to rain. At least the warmer weather will be around the corner regardless. 😎

Cot is relaxing in someone's lap which is a treat to watch.
Yes, he was relaxing on @silvertop's lap. He's very much seeks human companionship. He sleeps on my feet all night long. Sometimes I can't even move because he's on them, lol! He's keeping watch while we sleep!

Love it how cot seems to have a connection with humans.
He does crave human companionship. Cyle loves in his own way, but prefers to do it on his terms. He is not a snuggler. However, he will come lay on my shoulder when I'm sitting and purr in my ear; give me head butts and occasionally feel the need to 'exfoliate' part of my face with his sandpaper tongue! He is a sweetie too, just a tad different than Cot.

It sounds like you’re dealing with challenging situation at work, especially with Vera’s absence and Yana’s upcoming commitments.
It is challenging. I wear many hats and have for 10 years. That was okay in the beginning, but ever since Covid, and especially this year, we are growing exponentially which increases all of my workload. I don't even really have time to train my new employee in some things that could help because that would put me that much further behind. I've got a plan for tomorrow's workday and working on a conversation I'm going to have to have with my boss.

Hey sis! Yeah, it became very obvious today that it's more than can be handled in 3 days; maybe even 4. The problem is that I wear all of the hats except the doc's and with the increase in business and his adding a half day to the mix, I no longer have the 'me, myself, and I' days to try to catch up. I'm giving some thought as to how to handle a conversation that I need to have and also, giving some tasks to my helper and letting her go. Even if she flounders, all she will need to do is ask for help, but I am drowning!

Great idea!!! Delegate some work to your helper... a little at a time... soon you can delegate most of it, hehehe!
In a perfect world, but she has no optical background, so even reading an RX can be challenging especially if there's something not of the norm like prism, in it.
Then there's the measuring for the specific type of lens as well as any additional measurements because of a heavy RX. She will learn; I'm hoping I survive until she does, lol!
I would love to just be the billing, data input, admin type person and still work with the patients some, but trying to do all of what I've been doing for the past 10 years in a prolifically growing business is extrememly difficult. Ever watch the movie Multiplicity?
