Qué curioso es Dios, aún con lo imperfectos que somos, con nuestras carencias, debilidades y fallas, con ese montón de malos pensamientos que cargamos y ese racismo de emociones que nos llevan a querer hacer lo malo; y claro, también están estos sentimientos que son contrarios a la bondad y la pureza, y esos frutos de la carne que son contrarios a los del espíritu; qué curioso es Dios, quien aún él, conociendo todo lo que somos y podemos llegar a ser cuando seguimos nuestros caminos en concupiscencia, nos cuida como a la niña de sus ojos.

Momentos hay, en los cuales incluso nos desviamos de los propósitos de salvación, anhelando un deleite diferente; pero Dios nos libre de amar al mundo y las cosas que están en el mundo, porque son pasajeras estas cosas, y líbrenos Dios de querer ser como los del mundo, porque fuimos llamados a ser sal en la tierra; pero si la sal se desvaneciere, ¿para qué servirá? Para nada aprovecha, sino para ser tirada y pisoteada por los hombres.

Así que en esto consiste el camino estrecho, camino de los que procuran la paz y la santidad, camino de los que vivían conforme a la carne y ahora ansían la renovación en el Espíritu; porque Juan bautizaba con agua en señal de arrepentimiento; pero el que vino después de Juan, quien fue más poderoso que Juan, al cual no somos dignos de ni siquiera desatar las sandalias de sus pies, él nos bautiza con Espíritu Santo y fuego.

Ruego entonces que el fuego que arde en nuestro interior consuma toda maldad, para que seamos limpios; y que la sangre del Cordero borre toda mancha para que nuestras vestiduras sean blancas; y que la paz y la santidad prevalezca en nosotros, porque sin estos nadie verá al Señor. Que nadie apague nuestra fe, la que nos mueve en Cristo a hacer buenas obras, la fe que nos invita a hacer tesoros en el cielo para que ahí repose nuestro corazón.

There are moments in which we even deviate from the purposes of salvation, longing for a different delight; But God free us from loving the world and the things that are in the world, because these things are temporary, and God free us from wanting to be like those of the world, because we were called to be salt on the earth; But if the salt vanishes, what use will it be? It is useful for nothing, except to be thrown and trampled by men.

So this is the narrow way, the way of those who seek peace and holiness, the way of those who lived according to the flesh and now long for renewal in the Spirit; because John baptized with water as a sign of repentance; but he who came after John, who was more powerful than John, whose sandals we are not worthy to even untie from his feet, he baptizes us with the Holy Spirit and fire.

I pray then that the fire that burns within us consumes all evil, so that we may be clean; and may the blood of the Lamb erase every stain so that our garments may be white; and may peace and holiness prevail in us, because without these no one will see the Lord. May no one quench our faith, which moves us in Christ to do good works, the faith that invites us to store up treasures in heaven so that our hearts can rest there.
