A little more than a year ago I was in a small forest located in the center of the city where I live, where anyone can get there walking. It is a place where I like to be because I feel in contact with nature and where I relax listening to the splashing of the water as it flows down the creek, despite the fact that on its banks there are also drunks and homeless people who try to get some fish that they cook on the edge of the street that borders it.
I was convinced that among the thicket of plants or under the little bridge of the avenue that divides it, there must reside some goblins that in the darkness and solitude of the night would come out to frolic with the water or do their tremendous deeds in the surroundings.
Hace poco más de un año estuve en un bosquecito enclavado en el centro de la ciudad donde vivo, a donde cualquiera puede llegar caminando. Es un lugar donde me gusta estar, porque me siento en contacto con la naturaleza y donde me relajo escuchando el chapotear del agua mientras recorre su cauce, riachuelo abajo, a pesar de que a sus orillas también suelen reunirse borrachos e indigentes que buscan obtener alguno que otro pececito que cocinan a orilla de la calle que lo bordea.
Estaba convencido que entre la espesura de las plantas o debajo del puentecito de la avenida que lo divide, debían residir algunos duendes que en la oscuridad y soledad de la noche saldrían a juguetear con el agua o hacer sus tremenduras en los alrededores.

Supe por la prensa que en enero del pasado año (2023) el gobierno regional procedió a la tala de árboles que habrían tenido quizá unos 100 años de antigüedad, así como el embaulamiento de su cauce –ocasionando a mi parecer un daño ecológico irreparable– dando paso al “Balneario del puente de la mujer”.
Esta semana, mientras caminaba por diligencias personales, decidí acercarme al balneario para ver con mis propios ojos la obra inaugurada, y no pude dejar de preguntarme ¿a dónde quedó el bosquecito misterioso? ¿a dónde se habrán ido los duendecitos y náyades que moraban en su ribera? ¿habrá valido la pena destruir tantos árboles antiguos para el disfrute de las personas?

I was a little rushed because I spent all day Wednesday without power and when it came it was a little late, so I ended up posting first thing on Thursday.
However, I am delighted to have joined the community, since I love walking and exploring the immediate environment that I am photographing with my mobile phone.
