Who was Alexander the Great?
Hey dear Hive Community, I hope you have a week so far which has brought some interesting experiences into your life! In this article I would like to discuss a historical topic and hope you can learn new things.
Some time ago I photographed this work of art which depicts the former King of Macedonia Alexander the Great and he has gone down in history as one of the greatest conquerors of his time and through his strategic leadership, he managed to expand his empire more and more. He was born as the son of the Macedonian king Philip II in the city of Pella and it is believed that his year of birth was 356 BC and already in his early years he enjoyed a good education and was taught by the Greek philosopher Aristotle who had taught him things in different areas and the two had a strong relationship and later he regularly sent Aristotle new insights which he collected on his expedition. That he combined different aspects of the new cultures with each other was probably one of his main strategies and by his father he was trained in a military point of view and was prepared early for his rule and who particularly supported him that he came to the throne was his mother who could not wait to see him there. He already inherited a strong empire through his father and at that time Macedonia was already very powerful and when he came to the throne in 336 BC, he quickly became one of the most feared rulers of his time and had his enemies eliminated so that he was one jump ahead and at the same time, he became the head of the Corinthian Alliance and inherited a strong association and on behalf of this association, Alexander the Great should take revenge on the Persians who had destroyed Athens and with tens of thousands of soldiers he moved to Persia and won the battle.
Already his first campaigns were positive and he managed to expand his territory and quickly ensured that he was very feared by his enemies and some of his opponents even wanted to surrender to him, but he was not stopped from conquering further countries and his goal was probably even to take the whole world. In total, his campaigns lasted 11 years and already in the first years he managed to take over the entire Persian empire and thus also became the ruler in Asia and he developed various strategies with which he managed to achieve great things, even with small means and the morale of his troops was very good at most of the time and there were only a few uprisings in the inner ranks and soon he also reached Egypt and conquered the most important territories and the city of Alexandria was also named after him. He even managed to penetrate until India, but this was the time when the troops were at the end and no longer wanted to fight and here the morale of his troops became worse and worse and towards the end, there were more and more uprisings against Alexander the Great and the troops finally managed to get him to retreat. At the age of 33 he died and to this day there are various interpreters about his death, however, it is assumed that he died of health problems and subsequently his empire was split into different parts and he managed to make a name for himself centuries after his death because he had started the Hellenistic period which is also his fusion with the culture of other countries called.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you could learn something new about history! I captured these pictures with my Camera Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens.
