Troy was considered one of the most important cities of antiquity, which became known in particular through the Greek poet Homer, who addressed the legend of the Trojan war in his works Odyssey and Iliad, and even in later times Troy also had an important importance among the Romans. To this day it is a controversial topic whether the city had existed or not, but some archeologists are sure that the remains of the city are located in today's Turkey where numerous remains can be found in the Çanakkale province. According to assumptions, the city was already founded in the Bronze Age and it was an important centre of the region which was especially appreciated because of the good location to the Black Sea and the city was considered particularly influential and safe and the foundation can probably be traced back to the Arcadians. According to Homer, the city was also known by the name Ilios and Troy was also called the immediate area around the city and the foundation can be traced back to King Ilos I and Troy was probably named after Tros. In these photos you can see some works of art which I took some time ago and are supposed to represent a scene from the Trojan War and this is an old discovery from the Aphaia Temples from the island of Aegina and these figures were discovered during the 19th century and subsequently acquired by the Bavarian King Ludwig I (1786 - 1868). In Greek mythology, the Trojan war is probably one of the best-known legends and the trigger for the war was at the time that the son of the king of Troy, Paris had kidnapped the beautiful Helena and he had the task of judging the beauty of different goddesses of Olympus and he was so fascinated by her that he decided to kidnap and bring her to Troy and her husband, the king of Sparta, did not like at all and decided to take revenge.

The prehistory was a wedding to which all goddesses except Eris were invited and she then decided to take revenge and attended the wedding together with a golden apple which she had thrown into the crowd and this was destined for the most beautiful, whereupon a dispute broke out because each of the goddesses claimed that she would be the most beautiful and this dispute went so far that the god father Zeus interfered and himself did not know what to do and handed over the task to Paris. This was the trigger for this war which should last about ten years and it can also be described as one of the interesting psychological operations of antiquity in which the attackers managed to conquer the city through a very intelligent strategy and for this a horse of wood was built which was so large that some troops could hide in it and in this way, they came well camouflaged into the city, to then open the gates during one night to let their own troops who besieged the city in. Without this strategy, the Greeks would probably never have succeeded in getting into the city because Troy was considered particularly safe and it was almost impossible to get in there and the well-known names who fought on the side of the Greeks during this war were Odysseus and Achilles and also the gods decided to participate in these fights and on each side gods fought. It was Odysseus at the time who came up with the idea to build this horse which was the way to victory for the Greeks and the horse was presented to the Trojans as a gift without that they know that troops were hidden in it and after they opened the gates, the Greeks destroyed all of Troy and won the battle.
