The Web of a Spider
Hey dear community, I hope you are all doing well and you have a day that has brought some interesting experiences into your life! Today I would like to go into an interesting topic and share some pictures and hope you like my contribution.
Yesterday I had the opportunity to photograph some spider webs during a walk and it is really remarkable which works of art spiders are able to create which have not without reason inspired people for centuries. How long it takes for a spider to build its web can vary depending on the species and there are species that are able to build it in less than an hour while with others people can observe that they create the web during the night hours and have completed their work the next morning. Spiders are especially active at night and use the favor of the night hours to not be seen by insects and can camouflage themselves best during this time and this also has the advantage that the probably is higher to catch food that gets caught in the nets. Not all spiders build nets and how long such a net remains is quite different and some build a new one every day and know from birth how to build one and there was no one before who taught them this work. Spiders build their webs out of silk which consists of proteins which are absorbed through food and the most amazing thing is that this is even stronger than steel and does not for nothing attract numerous researchers who are interested in the industrial benefits of it. Also in mythology, you can find the work of spiders and is associated in different cultures with the creation of the world or the chaos and the center of the web also symbolizes the center which is located in the universe and in Norse mythology there were three female beings with the names Skuld, Urd and Verdandi who are also known as Norns and guide the fate with their threads. The spider is also considered to be protectors of the art of weaving and in Greek mythology, it is the goddess Arachne which from the goddess of wisdom Athena was once transformed into a spider and according to legends, the origin of the first spider goes back to this legend.
Thank you very much for stopping by and I hope you could learn something new about this topic! I captured these pictures with my Camera Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens.
