Fat balls are a great choice for anyone who wants to do something for nature and wants to support birds and I have already made some more or less positive experiences in the past when it comes to quality and would like to discuss what people should pay attention to. It can be worthwhile for feeding throughout the whole year and it is especially advantageous if birds have it difficult to find natural food as in winter and in spring as well as in summer it can be of great importance and help birds with breeding and these balls are rich in the most important ingredients such as fats, seeds, minerals, berries and other important things that birds need to survive. The balls are most visited during the spring or the summer because at this time the birds consume the most energy and there are huge differences in the quality between the different manufacturers and here it is important to inform yourself beforehand and even when it comes to the production process, there are many differences and it has already happened to me in the past that the dumplings are partly crumbled and were unusable for these purposes and it is best to look at different manufacturers and try them out. The firmness of the balls is of great importance in addition to the correct composition of the nutrients and one should also make sure that no low-quality raw materials have been mixed into the balls which are not tolerated by birds and often the balls are contaminated by some manufacturers with cheap materials and here, as already mentioned above, it is the best to simply look at and try out different manufacturer until you have found the right choice or to produce it yourself.

During the hot days it is probably better to choose them which without insects because this increases the risk of diseases and people will notice how during the main times the balls are regularly visited and it may also be worthwhile to create a stock and even if not all should be eaten, this has the advantage that they have a very long shelf life. It is important to know that there are balls with and without net and those with net have the advantage that you can easily hang them on trees, but in the best case you should choose the one without because birds can often get caught in them and this is particularly problematic if birds have eaten the balls and the empty net gets stuck on the tree and to avoid this problem, people should choose some without and for this there are special devices in which people can put the balls as can be seen in two of these pictures. The devices have the advantage that you can simply refill the balls and usually do not require maintenance and depending on the manufacturer, they can hold between 4 - 20 fat balls and if someone should choose some with a net, it can even happen in the worst case that the birds get caught with their feet and can get injured or even die and it can be said that fat balls are a great addition for different types of birds and can help to support nature well.
