The Healing Effect Of Roots
Hey dear readers, I hope you had a weekend that you enjoyed to the fullest and would also like to wish you a great start to the new week! In my new article, I would like to discuss natural medicine and hope my contribution is helpful.
When people consume medicinal plants, the herb is usually consumed, but some often do not even know that there are often active ingredients in the root which can be particularly useful from a medical point of view and the effect can vary depending on the plant. Already in ancient cultures, people made use of the roots and before they could be used, they had to be carefully dug out first and then thoroughly washed off and then they could be dried or consumed raw or other forms of medicines such as tinctures could be produced from it. In fact, in the underground part of the plant are often most of the active ingredients and in the mythology of ancient cultures people thought that the roots are so effective because they are of divine origin and often it was also associated with the power of the underworld and in Norse mythology, the world tree Yggdrasil connects the nine worlds with three roots and according to legends, the different roots lead to the land of the gods as well as giants. In some branches such as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) or Ayurveda, roots have been used for thousands of years to activate the self-healing powers of the body and it is an old knowledge and even earlier people knew that they could perform real miracle healings with these parts of the plant. It is also often seen that poisonous plants are unuseable except for the root and the active ingredients have anti-inflammatory, calming or anxiety-relieving effects and because of the high concentration, they are often great catchers of free radicals and the variety of different active ingredients in the roots of plants are also of great importance in the field of research and people regularly come across new highly effective ingredients.
The roots are the basis of the plant and this is the place from which nutrients are transmitted to the other parts of the plant and over a longer period of time, the root system becomes larger and more powerful, which of course sometimes affects the medical effect, but this varies depending on the type of plant and there are examples where the active ingredients of younger plants are most interesting or vice versa. It can be said that among ancient healers, the roots were more than the underground part of the plant and it was also often associated with the connection to the source or deep-seated wisdom and some roots were used particularly often for ritual purposes and certain roots were not only used internally but also had an important meaning for external use. The application is diverse and there are countless different methods of preparation and with some plants you can simply eat the roots raw and integrate them well into the food and with others you should cook it beforehand and if you want to preserve the roots for a longer time, it can be worth drying them. A good powder can be made from the dried roots that can be stirred into drinks or used to season food and as always I would like to mention that in the event of illness, you should always ask your doctor or pharmacist of trust about the correct use and possible side effects to avoid complications!
Many thanks for stopping by and I hope you could learn something new about nature! I captured these pictures with my Camera Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens.
