Here you can see the enchanting white flowers of the pear, which is also known under the scientific name Pyrus and is valuable in many ways from an ecological point of view. Depending on the weather, the flowers appear early in the year between March or April and are an important source of food for insects and because there is a huge supply of pollen and nectar you can find particularly often bumblebees, hoverflies and some species of wild bees, some of which are becoming increasingly rare and are sometimes severely threatened. There are over 30 different species of wild bees that have focused specifically on the flowers of the pear tree and the pollination can also be attributed to the help of insects and an important influencing factor for attracting insects is the strong fragrance. The leaves provide food for some species of caterpillars or beetles and the flowers are also visited by moths at night and pollination is an important prerequisite for the creation of the fruits, which are also of great importance from an ecological point of view. The trees that can grow a few meters high and also offer a shelter for different types of birds that gather there especially in winter and the fruits are also well suited as food for birds or other small animals and if they fall from the tree, you can leave them quietly because they are usually quickly consumed by animals. The differences between the wild or the cultural breeds are that the wild often have thorns and pears are recommended for anyone who wants to do something for nature and wants to harvest fruits at the same time.
