A head can be seen here which represents a young man and presumably this is Orpheus who was known as one of the most important artists from Greek mythology and he has been known for being able to evoke magical effects with his music and to influence animals or people with it. There are different interpretations of Orpheus and sometimes he was seen as human and sometimes as a god and his exact origin is often puzzled and there are different interpretations and it is assumed that he can be the child of Apollo or the god Oiagros and as his mother the muse calliope was known who was also known for her musical abilities. Orpheus is usually depicted as a young man together with his instrument of the lyre which he once received from Apollo as a gift and he could even put animals into a trance state with his music or move stones and this once even saved his life when he distracted the hell dog cerberus with his music and singing in the underworld to get past him and the reason why he travelled to the underworld was to free his wife Eurydice who was bitten to death by snakes. Another of his well-known performances is the legend of the golden fleece in which orpheus belonged to the crew of lason and there he also had the task of soothing others with his sounds and and there were even interpretations that he could even conquer the stormy seas with his singing and some well-known authors from ancient times such as Ovid, Homer and others wrote about him and and there are numerous works of art that have been created in honor for him.
