In psychology, opinion formation is a process in which the opinion and discernment of the individual or a group are influenced and this is often found in areas where it is about reaching people in a targeted manner, such as in the field of the media. When it comes to a form of communication in different ways, the cognitive abilities are changed and often there are interesting phenomena that are also associated with the psychology of the mass and if the approval of a certain topic increases, this often has the consequence that the opinion of individuals are often suppressed by this and often people can also see other social influences in this context. With opinion formation, it quickly happens that people change their behaviour as well as their attitude towards certain topics and often act very hastily or irrationally and this is particularly often the case when emotions are involved and through the growing digitisation, people can see how more and more influence is taken on the opinion through the use of social media and in social media, the interest is tailored to each individual, which makes it even easier to change the opinion of the individual. Each person processes certain information differently and combines them with their own experiences or sensory impressions, and when it comes to generating public opinions, the mass media probably play one of the most important roles when it comes to bringing entire topics to a large target group in order to change the attitude, which, depending on the situation, results in short or long-term behavioural changes. Which reactions an opinion has to result always depends on the topic and often one sees that through persuasiveness the political thinking is changed or influence on the purchase or religious behaviour is taken and there are always certain risks that are in this connection such as the suppression of certain opinions and when it comes to opinion formation, it usually comes to the fact that people no longer fully perceive their environment and there is a deception of perception.
