Lady's mantle in the Alchemy
Hey dear community, first of all I would like to welcome you to my new post and hope you had a weekend that has brought some positive experiences into your life! Today I would like to talk a little about alchemy and hope you are able to expand your knowledge.
Today I took these pictures of the Lady's mantle, which is also known under the scientific name Alchemilla, and is often associated with the female aspects from a symbolic point of view. The botanical name can also be traced back to the old alchemists and here there are interesting mystical interpretations and the plant is known for the fact that the drops that arise at dew accumulate on the leaves and there was the assumption that these drops were once a gift from heaven and could be used for the production of the Philosopher's stone, which was one of the main goals of alchemy. There are some old writings from the Middle Ages in which the alchemists tried to produce gold artificially from these dew drops and particularly interesting were the drops created during the full moon and The moon was also linked to the female aspects in the symbolism of alchemy. In general, in the Middle Ages it was considered a mystical plant that can help to protect the house from negative influences and probably the drops were also used as a kind of oracle to predict future events and also predict changes in the weather or phenomena. In addition to the mystical aspect, women's mantle also had a practical benefit in alchemy and it was recognized early on that it has great potential from a medical point of view and it was used in the Middle Ages to alleviate women's suffering or other diseases and also the research of the connections when it comes to the spectrum of effects were of great interest to the alchemists. It was also highly appreciated because of the anti-inflammatory effect and in some old writings it often appears as a remedy for external injuries and the whole plant was used for extraction purposes and this distillation was applied externally in a highly concentrated form and for internal complaints it was previously diluted with liquids. I would like to mention at the end that in the event of illness, you should always ask your doctor or pharmacist of trust about the correct use as well as possible side effects in order to avoid complications and if you would like to learn more about the connections between plants and the old alchemists in general, you will find here a contribution from me where I have already gone into the topic in more detail.
Thanks a lot for stopping by and I hope you could learn something new about alchemy! I captured these pictures with my Camera Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens.
