Good day dear community, I hope you are all doing well and you have a weekend full of interesting experiences! In my new contribution I would like to go into something like nature and hope you are able to expand your knowledge a little.

Pictures of Purple loosestrife can be seen here, which is also known by the scientific name Lythrum salicaria and has its origin in Europe and some parts of Asia, where it can be found in wild form especially in humid places such as the edge of streams or paths. Between the 18th and 19th century it also became more and more popular on other continents and so it also reached the American continent where it quickly enjoyed great popularity and found more and more found its way into gardens and even in colder areas, the plant grows without problems and is perennial as well as hardy and tolerates temperatures up to -40 degrees Celsius. Lythrum salicaria can be described as very undemanding in care and is extremely robust and also popular with insects and it is particularly interesting from an ecological point of view because of the long flowering period as well as the large supply of pollen as well as nectar which offers various types of insects such as bees, butterflies, hover flies and many more an important source of food and some insects have specialised in it over the years and without the plant these problems would have it hard to survive. Also for rare insects such as wild bees it offers a safe source of food and I had already mentioned in the past in my contribution that the population of wild bees is decreasing more and more and there are estimates that every tenth wild bee is threatened with extinction and these numbers are growing more and more. The purple flowers that are somewhat reminiscent of the color of blood were already used in old cultures as a remedy and in the past it was used especially to stop bleedings and also in other areas, it is considered extremely effective. Particularly interesting from a medical point of view are the roots, but all other parts as well as the stems are used and although it is rich in different active ingredients, it is rather unknown in the medical field and is used less often and as always I would like to mention here that in case of illness you should always ask your doctor or pharmacist of trust about the right medicine and use in order to avoid complications!
