A ginger root can be seen here which is also known under the scientific name Zingiber officinale and the exact origin is often puzzled to this day, but it is assumed that it comes from the Asian region where it has been known for thousands of years. It is one of the oldest healing or spice plants of humanity and in ancient China or India it was used against pretty much all kinds of diseases and is deeply rooted there and during the Middle Ages, it became an increasingly important commodity in Europe, but it is assumed that it was already known to the Greeks or Romans, but it was still avoided by many and mainly it was used as a spice during these times. In the mythology of ancient cultures, people thought that the plant could help to confer magical powers and in ancient China it was already mentioned by the well-known philosopher Confucius and other scholars who reported about the healing properties and from a medical point of view, it is considered extremely effective and can even help against serious diseases. Mainly the roots are consumed which are dried for some time and then processed and in the quality there are huge differences and often you can see that the soil in some growing areas is contaminated with heavy metals and it is very important to pay attention to a trustworthy manufacturer who pays attention to a careful cultivation. In traditional Chinese medicine or TCM for short, ginger has been used for thousands of years and in TCM it is a lot about working with heat and here the positive of ginger is that it has a sharp effect on the body and here it is best to consume it hot as as a drink and also in Ayurveda, it is a popular remedy. As always, I would also like to mention that in case of illness you always have to ask your doctor or pharmacist you trust for the right medicine and possible side effects to avoid complications!
