Yesterday I had the opportunity to photograph this charming greenfinch which was just distracted and consumed sunflower seeds at the feeding place and the scientific name of this bird is Carduelis chloris which is probably associated with the Greek goddess of spring or flowers Chloris. The natural area of distribution includes Europe, Asia and some parts of Africa and this species usually remains in its habitat all year round and is most active in summer while it withdraws in winter and shows itself only for food search and in summer, it feeds mainly on insects and in winter on seeds or berries. The greenfinch usually builds the nest on trees or shrubs where it breeds its young for a few weeks and often you can also see this bird on the edge of forest where it is not far from the food source and even if the population has decreased somewhat in recent years, it is a rather frequent bird species which fortunately is not threatened with extinction. The females are usually a little greener in color and on this picture you can probably see the male which is noticeable by the typical yellow colour and regardless of gender, it is a small bird that does not grow larger than 20 cm and has only a very low weight and based on the typical singing it is possible to distinguish it very well from other birds.
