Hey dear community, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my new contribution and hope you have a week so far which has brought some interesting experiences into your life! In this article I would like to discuss art history and would be happy if you can expand your knowledge.

The term Baroque is one of the most important European periods of art that took place between the 17th and 18th centuries and has influenced various areas of art such as music, literature or architecture. In this article I would like to go specifically into the furniture of this time which still fascinates thousands of lovers today and there are typical features that immediately catch the eye when looking at this kind of furniture, which is why it's usually easy to identify. The origin is probably Italy where the baroque style was especially popular in Rome and from there it spread more and more in other parts of Europe and an important centre was France from where it quickly gained more acceptance in other countries such as Germany or the Netherlands. The Baroque can also be divided into different categories and over the centuries the construction as well as the style changed and while in the early eras the furniture was handled out for large or noble clients, it should take some time for the growth of production and a decrease in prices so that also normal citizens could afford this furniture, but there were clear differences in quality between the handmade or the mass productions. One of the most important criteria for furniture of all kinds is a construction that is not only simple, but also stable and this is one of the characteristics of baroque furniture which has been abundantly decorated and is by no means comparable to the modern ones today. Baroque furniture looks extremely extravagant and has been abundantly decorated and the typical patterns include impressive shapes or ornaments and the accuracy of the work can be seen down to the smallest detail and not infrequently fine metals such as gold are also used in the decoration.

Would you say that's one of the best period in history for art and such? I see buildings and for example fornitures from that time and they are so full of details, sophisticated and such then today we have all minimalist squares

An interesting read. It must be difficult and time consuming back then to make such crafty furniture!
