The circle often appears in the symbolism of the old alchemists and is associated with different meanings and also embodies the principle of the whole and in the centre, there is also the principle of duality such as light or darkness which seeks the way to the outside. The centre of the circle was also considered the heart and associated with the primordial powers or chaos and around this centre are the different elements as well as their properties and based on the circle, a cycle of the year was also defined which was linked with the different aspects such as dry or cold ones. In ancient alchemical works of art, the circle was often divided into different levels and in the representations a female figure or deity was usually placed in the centre, which is also considered a symbol of fertility or creation and this symbolism of the various elements that emerge from it was essential for the practical work of alchemy. These levels were also associated with old teachings and depending on how many levels the circle was divided into, this was associated with the 12 months or the various aspects of the human body as well as other qualities in addition to the teaching of the elements. Around the centre were also the seven metals seen which in alchemy are also associated with the seven metals and and around the circle was in these representations the sky which is in harmony with the earth and illuminates the centre with the different celestial bodies. The alchemists also saw it as divine geometry which was full of mysticism and also used it to express different symbolism or cryptic messages and by combining it with other geometric forms, they found numerous supernatural signs which were linked different meanings and from a spiritual point of view, the circle was linked to the principle of transformation and in the centre was the wisdom.
