Already the natives of Mexico were known to have dealt a lot with occult things and some of the practices or rituals can also be considered as a form of alchemy and the people dealt a lot with spiritual practices and looked for ways to develop their higher self. There are some parallels in this respect to the alchemists of other countries and in this context there were some magical practices and they dealt a lot with the effects of plants and began to use them for medical purposes and within Mexican civilizations, there were scholars who healed the people which can also be equated with alchemists. Particularly interesting in this context were the reactions that certain substances can trigger and the alchemists of Mexico began to develop different methods to improve the the work of nature and so it came to the fact that people began to extract plants to develop more effective medicines and it is suspected that those of the society at that time had a particularly good reputation and could free people from their problems and for this purpose, they also worked with certain frequencies in the form of music or songs and other religious practices were also used. Through certain occult practices, it was important to awaken the spiritual side and find the hidden self and the alchemists of Mexico were always looking for new practices with which one can reach the higher self and much of the knowledge was passed on especially through oral traditions or characters and other symbols.

While in Europe alchemists had a particularly difficult time at certain times, people in Mexico who dealt with occult practices more openly and both men and women were allowed to carry out this work and old discoveries show that people already had special vessels thousands of years ago with which plants could be extracted. With the arrival of the Spaniards, a lot has changed and it came to the fact that both the influences of the European alchemists came to Mexico and vice versa and during this time there were some conflicts between the natives and the conquerors. In Europe, the people were very fascinated by the work of the Mexican alchemists and there are even legends that they have managed to convert silver into gold and according to legends the silver from Mexico had mystical properties and some metals are even said to have such rare chemical properties that they convert themselves into noble metals over a longer period of time and the alchemists had these metals mature over a longer period of time to transform them into gold. This was also interesting in other countries and some researchers began to travel for Mexico to examine these metals in more detail and a Frenchman even managed to imitate this in a self-experiment and reported that these legends could be true, but this is still not fully clarified whether it is a confusion or whether it was actually possible to produce gold from Mexican silver. When it comes to the artificial production of gold, there are more interesting views from Mexico and it can be said that the alchemy has been practiced in Mexico exactly as in other countries, but did not come to the public as in other countries and there are not so many written traditions about this topic.
