My review of Bridgerton || Mi crítica sobre Bridgerton 🌻✨

I think we're already at a point where almost everyone has heard of the Bridgerton series, both for better and for worse. Even if you don't know what it's about, or where you can watch it, many probably already know its name. Bridgerton premiered its third season, which Netflix split into two parts (very bad decision); previously, I had told you my opinion of the first four chapters, and now we will continue with the last four.

Creo que ya estamos en un punto donde casi todos hemos escuchado sobre la serie Bridgerton, tanto para bien como para mal. Aunque no se sepa de qué trata, ni donde se puede ver, probablemente muchos ya saben su nombre. Bridgerton estrenó su tercera temporada, la cual Netflix dividió en dos partes (muy mala decisión); anteriormente, les había comentado mi opinión de los primeros cuatro capítulos, y ahora continuaremos con los últimos cuatro.

If you're reading this review, you most likely know what the series is about, so I won't dwell on that explanation. On the other hand, I'll do something I never thought I'd get to do: a critique of Bridgerton.

I've loved every season, every chapter, it's a story that earned a place in my heart. The first four chapters of the season were interesting, a little weak in some scenes, but mostly they were good. There was a lack of character development, romance, the pacing was slow, but it was early chapters, so I was holding out hope that the other four could close with a bang. But, in my opinion, this did not happen.

He amado cada temporada, cada capítulo, es una historia que se ganó un lugar en mi corazón. Los primeros cuatro capítulos de la temporada estuvieron interesantes, un poco flojos en algunas escenas, pero mayormente estuvieron bien. Faltaba desarrollo de los personajes, del romance, el ritmo estuvo lento, pero eran los primeros capítulos, así que guardaba la esperanza de que los otros cuatro pudieran cerrar con broche de oro. Pero, en mi opinión, esto no sucedió.

For a series known for its romance, I think we can all agree that it lacked those scenes that make us sigh and long for such a moment. Colin and Penelope are a couple that all of us readers love, and they gave more emphasis to their estrangement than to their marriage. It's a story that we've slowly seen unfold in the previous seasons, the production had everything in hand to give us that great romance, and we were left waiting. Their friendship, complicity and connection, remained in the background, and in a way, it was overshadowed by the diversity of side stories.

Para ser una serie reconocida por su romance, creo que todos estamos de acuerdo en que hizo falta esas escenas que nos hacen suspirar y añorar un momento así. Colin y Penélope son una pareja que todos los lectores amamos, y les dieron más énfasis a su distanciamiento que a su matrimonio. Es una historia que poco a poco la hemos visto desarrollándose en las temporadas anteriores, la producción tenía todo a la mano para darnos ese gran romance, y nos quedamos esperando. Su amistad, complicidad y conexión, quedó en segundo plano, y en cierto modo, fue opacada por la diversidad de historias secundarias.

One of the complicated elements of Bridgerton is its abundance of characters. And yes, several of these stories are significant to both the current and future plots, but don't lose sight of who the real protagonists are. There are so many external stimuli, details that do not add importance to the story, that it diverts your attention, making it difficult for a moment to understand what is going on, especially if you have not read the books (as most of the audience has).

We love seeing all the Bridgerton siblings, getting to know about them, seeing what entanglements they are included in, but too much stuff can be overwhelming. And I don't really feel like there was a balance between the story of Eloise, Francesca and Benedict Bridgerton alongside the main story. They tried to tell too much, and in the end told too little, and you're left with the feeling of "something is missing."

Uno de los elementos complicados de Bridgerton es su abundancia de personajes. Y sí, varias de éstas historias son significativas tanto para la trama actual, como para las futuras, pero no hay qué perder de vista quiénes son los verdaderos protagonistas. Hay tantos estímulos externos, detalles que no aportan importancia a la historia, que te hace desviar la atención, causando que por un momento sea difícil de comprender qué está sucediendo, especialmente si no has leído los libros (como la mayor parte del público).

Amamos ver a todos los hermanos Bridgerton, conocer acerca de ellos, ver en cuáles enredos se incluyen, pero las cosas en exceso pueden ser abrumadoras. Y realmente no siento que hubo un equilibrio entre la historia de Eloise, Francesca y Benedict Bridgerton a la par que la historia principal. Intentaron contar demasiado, y al final contaron muy poco, y quedas con la sensación de "hace falta algo"

And, undoubtedly, I have to mention the displeasure that is present in the community that closely follows every detail of the series. Although the production may have the autonomy to make changes with the development of the series, as has been done before, there are extremely significant elements that are part of the essence of the plot and characters. It is a bit disappointing given that many of us had expectations, the longing to see specific scenarios that made us fall in love with the story.

And the changes themselves are not bad. I consider that the biggest annoyance is that they are unjustified, made for subjective ideas, without taking into consideration the audience that consumes the content. They are decisions that can be counterproductive to the continued success of the next seasons.

Y, sin duda, tengo que mencionar el disgusto que está presente en la comunidad que sigue de cerca cada detalle de la serie. Aunque la producción pueda tener autonomía en realizar cambios con el desarrollo de la serie, cómo ya se ha hecho anteriormente, hay elementos sumamente significativos que son parte de la esencia de la trama y los personajes. Es un poco decepcionante dado que muchos teníamos expectativas, la añoranza de ver escenarios específicos que nos enamoraron de la historia.

Y los cambios en sí no son malos. Considero que la mayor molestia es que son injustificados, realizados por ideas subjetivas, sin tener en consideración el público que consume el contenido. Son decisiones que pueden ser contraproducentes para continuar el éxito de las próximas temporadas.

However, it's not all bad. Overall, I did enjoy the last few episodes of this third season. The set design continues to be as amazing as ever: the environment, costumes, and utensils are beautiful to look at. In each episode you are transported to another era, leaving reality behind for a moment. The actors do a good job in the interpretation of their characters, the chemistry between the main characters is very noticeable, and the union of the whole cast is transmitted in their performances, given that off screen they are also appreciated as a family.

Sin embargo, no todo está mal. En general, sí disfruté los últimos capítulos de esta tercera temporada. La escenografía continúa siendo tan asombrosa como siempre: el ambiente, vestuario, y utensilios son hermosos de ver. En cada capítulo te transportas a otra época, dejando atrás la realidad por un momento. Los actores realizan un buen trabajo en la interpretación de sus personajes, es muy notable la química entre los protagonistas, y la unión de todo el elenco, se transmite en sus actuaciones, dado que fuera de pantalla también se aprecian como una familia.
