Why he hates love…

He courted her for two years before he got a date, he sent messages professing his love, he memorized her lecture schedule so that he could stalk her, he bought her gifts, food , anything he thought would give him a better shot at gaining her attention.
On their first date out he changed his clothes thrice, he chose her favorite restaurant, bought her favorite meal and payed his room mates so that they could have some privacy when they got back.
She almost stood him up, but she could see from his messages that he was getting more nervous, anxious to see her. And in his defense he had been patient, he had waited over two years for her.

She showed up, and smiled and wined and dined but she knew that she couldn’t give him what he wanted.
She didn’t go home with him as he would have liked because she was on her “period”, it took several months before she eventually came over to his place. But even then he never saw her naked.

He truly loved her so it didn’t matter, she got into relationships and would disappear from his life for weeks and even months only to reappear again when she needed his attention to mend her broken heart.
His friends warned him, his brother told him that she wasn’t worth the trouble she caused him, he had attempted relationships with other people but he always pulled back at the last minute hoping that she would love him the way he loved her…even though he never saw her naked, Until he did.

It was a lazy Sunday afternoon like any other, he was home exchanging banter with his brother and his roommates. They were having a random conversation like boys would about females when his brother claimed he had the largest collection of “Raw photos” , the brother opened his vault to prove his point, and sliding through the pictures of several unclad females he saw HER. In her natural state, wearing only that smile that he loved more than anything else and a look in her eyes that he had never seen before.
He thought about all the times he had begged, all the time had waited, the many nights she had come to him for a shoulder to lean on, the one night when she was so hurt and vulnerable that she begged him to take her and he turned her down, “Not now, not like this “ he had said.
He thought of the many things he left unsaid to spare her feelings.

“Why can’t I find a nice guy like you” she would say to him.
“Why do you need a guy like me!!! I am meeee!!! “ he would scream in his head but never say, only letting a faint smile escape his lips as he hugged her a little tighter whilst she sobbed in his arms.
His brother realized what must have happened and started to explain “ She came unto me musty, it’s not like that. It only happened a few times, I wanted to tell you, I did it for you”
The phone dropped to the floor as a tear escaped his eyelids and raced down his cheek in pursuit of the falling phone.
He never saw her the same after that day, he never saw his brother the same way either.
He stopped speaking to her, and I stopped speaking to him, but I bet he still thinks of her and wonders what could have been.
