Don't panic: AI will be a safe tool

Yesterday, wongi asked me on my thread, "Why does it feel like AI would still backfire in the end?"

The first thing that came to my head was that this girl watches too many science fiction movies. In those movies, the bad guys will always want to take advantage of any intelligent creatures to the detriment of the rest of the world as long as their pockets get filled. They could be threats of complete annihilation but we always know the storylines end where the good overcomes the bad.

As it is, a large percentage of people are talking about the bad side of AI and how it's going to put everyone out of their job, and they are not seeing the good side.

Whether or not AI is here to take our jobs, just as in sci-fi movies and books, there will always be a good thing made out of this new revolution. And the way we will be able to make sure this happens is by creating an atmosphere that makes AI safe for use.

By having guiding principles that we follow, we can draw the line between using AI for a good cause and using her for a bad one. Every application that uses AI will have to be safe and secure, and essential systems should be put in place to help us achieve this.

Secondly, it will make more sense if everyone who uses AI now and in the future will state and communicate categorically how it's being used and their motivation. This way, people will have confidence and trust in the organization or enterprises that utilize AI.

Whatever it is we do, the regulations that may apply in the future should be followed and strictly adhered to. Therefore, it should be compatible and have the tendency to stay accountable to the general public. This is because the more safe and more secure people feel about new technology, the faster they will come to embrace it.

I can't shake off the feeling of the different things that we will be able to do with AI in the future. It will be a massive addition to our technology, but this one just as we see in movies will take us to the next level. But first things first, we need to embrace AI, instead of shying away from the possibilities AI brings to humanity.

Dear @wongi, do not be afraid, AI won't hurt us, we will learn to use every resource to create a trustworthy set of intelligent beings and systems that will help the world move at a faster pace than ever before.

First of all, I have to thank you for making a post that answers my numerous questions about AI in simple terms.

By having guiding principles that we follow,

Not everyone would choose to follow this guidelines and that would be the beginning of the problems.

I can't help but admit the many good things that AI brings with it. I read a post few hours ago how someone uses AI as her personal study buddy, that alone sounds great.

do not be afraid, AI won't hurt us,

I'd still keep a tank of water ready, just incase😅.

Thanks again for clearing my doubts☺️

Haha, she said she will keep a tank of water lying around.. to switch off the robot I guess 🤣

Don't worry, I support you, it's necessary that we plan for the worst even when we are expecting the best... I think that's how they say it.

Sweetheart, thank you for dropping the question, it gave me an angle to write about today. I would probably have written about ChatGPT again... Hehehehe
