In search of magic power

Frederick was a short boy with brown skin and messy black hair. He often had an unsure look on his face. He loved his parents, Gabriel and Julia, and they were taken during a raid by the king's guards. The only thing that was left was a note that said "Criminal Reward." Frederick didn't know what that meant, but knew it would probably be best to get out of the village.

He entered the forest and started to make a run for it when an old man suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Frederick dropped his bag and backed away. The old man looked at Frederick and smiled. "Figure out what happened to your parents, child." The old man said.

Frederick was confused, but he asked. "What would I do that's so bad to be rewarded with life?" Frederick asked.

"This is your world and you know the rules." The old man said. Before Frederick could ask another question, the old man was gone.

Frederick was confused, but decided to walk in the direction of the king's castle.

The forest was a beautiful, green place. Frederick smiled as he walked past many different kinds of plants and trees. He was beginning to relax when all of a sudden two guards appeared in front of him. Frederick stopped and backed up against a tree.

"Halt!" One of the guards said. They were silent as they scanned the area around Frederick. They began to come closer. Frederick was becoming nervous. "Who are you?" One of the guards asked.

Frederick nodded. "Frederick." He said.

The guard looked at Frederick's bag and looked at Frederick. "Come along with us." He said. Frederick nodded and made his way to the castle.

Frederick's castle came into view. He was getting anxious as the guards walked into town. His parents wore uniforms and no guards were in the area.

"Hey, can you tell me where the king's castle is?" One of the guards asked.

"Uh, it's about three feet away from us. Yard, grass, then left there." Frederick replied.

The guard nodded. "Thanks, kid." The guard said. They turned and walked the way the were going.

Moments later, they spotted the gates of the castle. The guards stopped and turned to Frederick. Both guards looked at him and in unison had said, "Criminal Reward."

"Wait, please don't kill me!" Frederick screamed. All of a sudden, the two guards were gone. Frederick collapsed to his knees.

Frederick was confused. "What just happened?" He wondered. He put on his bag and ran towards the castle. He found himself at a door that had a guard standing next to it. "What are you doing here?" The guard asked.

"I just wanted to check the place out." Frederick replied.

The guard looked at Frederick. "Come by tomorrow or something." The guard said as he opened the door. Frederick went through the door and into the castle.

Frederick wandered through the castle, checking out the guards. He saw one part that was made of stone and a different world on the other side of it. There was a door and he noticed it was unlocked. He pushed the door open and saw a masked figure on the other side. The being on the other side of the door saw him and turned around. "Close the door!" The being yelled.

"Who are you?" Frederick asked.

"Nevermind that. Close the door." The being said again. Frederick looked at the door, then back at the figure. He shut the door and went back to exploring.

Frederick came to a room with no guards. He saw lots of guards in it every minute, but forgot about it when he saw a masked figure talking to the king. It was the same figure from before. Frederick saw the king and figures surrounding him through a window. He knocked on the door and the guard opened it. "What do you want?" The guard asked.

"Uh, I was wondering if I could talk to the king." Frederick replied.

"The king isn't here right now. I suggest you leave." The guard said. Frederick shrugged and left the room. He heard the guard speaking to the figure. "He won't be bothering us again." The guard said. Frederick shrugged and left the castle.

Frederick decided to leave the place, but then he remembered the door. He walked up to the door and touched it. He touched it and tried opening it. He touched it again, but nothing happened. He touched it again and it opened. There was no room in plain sight, so he kept walking. He touched the door and it went back to the way it used to be. He touched it again and it opened as well. He would touch it, then go two steps and touch it again. The door stayed open the entire time. This made Frederick nervous so he called out. "Is there anyone there?"

"Yes I am!" A voice said.

He turned around to see a person in a blue mask. Frederick quickly left the way he came. He had noticed that a lot of the guards had blue masks. The figure was running after him. Frederick ran through the castle and left through the way he came. He had heard that the king's guards chased people with blue masks. He began to run faster then as he remembered his parents. He had been taught how to hide from the guards, but all he could do was run. He didn't want to be caught by the guards, but he knew he had to keep moving and faster.

He ran into the forest and the guards didn't follow him. They were ordered not to kill the figure with the blue mask. The masked figure was very angry when Frederick had left. Frederick had left a lot faster then he expected and he couldn't follow him. He had a bag full of magical objects and a mask that held one object to make him invisible. He needed the other four objects to make a magical object that would bring peace and freedom to the land.

He was in trouble.

In a moment, he would kill the king, thereby ruining the kingdom forever. Frederick didn't want this to happen, but knew he would have to find out the answer to the problem. He would rather die trying to find out the problem then risk the kingdom ending.

He bumped into a person running. The guard bumped into him. "Who's there?" The guard said.

"It's me." The figure said.

The guard saw the figure, but did not care. He started to walk away. That's when the figure pointed at him. "You forgot to lock the door!" The figure yelled.

The guard turned around, but it was too late. The door shut and the figure could go. The figure wandered around the castle. He knew he had to save the kingdom, so he found the king's library. He went inside and searched for a book about defeating the king. He found one and read the last page. "Only someone wearing a mask of goodness can defeat him." The book said. The figure touched it and it became a mask. The figure wore it, but it had no effect. "I must collect all four objects." The figure decided. The figure was going to return to the door and go through it again, but he bumped into Frederick.
