Saturday Savers Club with @susie-saver | Week 50 - Saturday 10 December 2022 | EDSMM Giveaway | Win EDS for Comments - everyone welcome

Hello Everyone,

Brrr! We're right in the middle of a cold snap in England - 0 degrees Celsius and -4 expected tonight (actually, -4 expected during the day on Wednesday). Some of you may laugh, "hahaha, not cold at all!" As with any weather slightly outside the norm, Britain is not ready/made for it! Plus, you know, we're a damp set of isles, and that tends to make everything feel that bit chillier. 😜

Now for some news:

Remember there are more EDSMM on sale (just under 6,000 now) - are they the perfect gift to other Hivers to encourage saving? Or is there a better one?

Have you claimed all your airdrops for this month? I've got LARYNX and GLX on my list, how about you?

Saturday Savers Club is going to be giving away EDSMMs from now until the end of the year. These are sponsored by @shanibeer. Each For your chance to win, take part in each of the contests as they come up in the Saturday Savers Post.

EDSMM Contests

Last week, the challenge was to answer any or all of three questions - great answers as always, check the comments on last week's post.

We had comments from fourteen people and everyone who took part gets an HSBI share.
For new holders of HSBI, you'll find them under the "OTHERS" tab in your wallet.

We have two winners this week: @successchar and @steemmillionaire plus @tokutaro22 wins an SPI - yay! check your wallets!

Remember this idea, to upvote each other's savings posts (I would add to make sure you upvote the Saturday Savers Club post, too) and leave a little comment, that's always motivating!

THIS WEEK'S CONTEST

We've started planning next year's Saturday Savers Club: @silverstackeruk has moved over 104 EDS for giveaways for comments; @shanibeer has stacked another 52 EDSMM for contest participants. Now we need your help:

I'm thinking about changing the post format a little next year to look like this:
Section 1 - EDSMM savings contest
Section 2 - 365 savings update
Section 3 - News and information (how to raise queries, airdrops etc)
Section 4 - Savings chart

So, just streamlining it a little, plus in the EDSMM section having a more structured approach to savings habits, plans and skills, a little like we did in 2021.

Let me have your feedback in the comments, would this work for you? do you have any other suggestions or would you like anything different? Do you have any ideas about growing the Saturday Savers Club?

Many thanks 😍

Saver of the Year Awards

Here's the timetable:
Saturday 17 December - nominate your saver of the year.
Saturday 24 December - vote for nominees.
Saturday 31 December - winners annoucement.

There will be three prizes: 1st - 5 SPI, 2nd - 3 SPI and 3rd - 2 SPI

Next week, the EDSMM contest will be to nominate your Saver of the Year and why you are nominating them. It could be any of the following or another reason entirely:

  • they embody get the rich slowly values of Saturday Savers Club.
  • they turn up every week, rain or shine, regardless of progress.
  • they have come through adversity and kept on saving.
  • they are super-supportive of other savers.
  • they contribute good hints and tips.
  • they bring good cheer and make us laugh 🙂.

Have a think during the week who you would like to nominate and why. (If anyone would like to sponsor additional prizes, let me know in the comments).

Earn SPI!

Would you like to be a content creator for the @spinvest account. We're looking for ones or two people who would like to write a regular post. Here's what it involves:

  • commit to a regular post (weekly, monthly, or for six weeks, to suit you).
  • write a post between 300-500 words long with the aim of engaging people on the @spinvest account under your own name.
  • posts can be about anything that interests you - crypto, general finance, saving, investing, your journey, commentary or profile of Hive Engine tokens or other cryptocurrencies.
  • respond to comments (I suggest you use your own account to do this, so you're also building your own network; any technical questions about SPI would be answered by @spinvest, so no need to worry about that).

We pay 5 SPI for every post published. If you have an idea and you'd like to chat about it, get in touch with me on discord: @shanibeer#7523.

We want to increase awareness and engagement of SPI and all the tokens in the family (LBI, CL, EDS, EDSM and EDSMM), so it would be good to have a a variety of writers writing about different things that would appeal to different people. We also want to relieve @silverstackeruk of writing posts so that he can concentrate on building the different funds for everyone.

If you wanted to, you could write a set of six posts in advance that could be posted at later agreed dates - maybe something you could do over the holidays when you want an escape 😜.

Saturday Savers Club Discord Chat

Join us for chat about savings and investments: https://discord.gg/RQZubGeeTH

Ground Rules:

  • The SPI family motto is Get Rich Slowly. This covers EDS, EDSM and EDSMM, the home tokens for the Saturday Savers Club, as well as SPI, LBI and CL. The bottom line is that we are looking for well-researched options which bring a steady income. Good options will have an identifiable and easily accessible team (with emphasis on more than one person involved), a clear plan and use case for the token, and transparency and accountability through regular reporting.
  • Individual members are free (of course they are) to publish guides to tokens under their own account - and any number of members can do that.

We've added some more savings goals and savings posts to the table. Leave a comment below with a link if you've done a savings post or settled on your savings goals for this year - it can take a while to decide your aims, so take your time and let us know when you're ready 😍

This is exciting! I can't believe that the year is already ending and that we are reaching the end of the objectives.

For next year I can think of a weekly raffle among all those who have deposited what corresponds to each week. It seems to me that it is a good way to encourage the commitment to save.

For my part, I only have two deposits left to achieve my goal. I got a little ahead because I want to finish as soon as possible, since the trip I plan to take is in January and I need to secure the money. I'm excited about it, although I'd be sorry to withdraw the savings and my interest income will drop 😂

The raffle is an interesting idea. I have kept things very open this year. We have had the 365 framework, but I have encouraged everyone to set their own goals if they didn't want to use the 365 framework. Do you think the savings plan should be more focused, the raffle is for people who have committed to the year and then make the savings each week?

Exactly! It would be a small incentive for those who show that they are complying with their saving plan. For example, now we don't know how many of all the people who started made it to the end, but at least those who commit to this could be rewarded. The prize could be some 1 Hive tip, or some special token, raffled among all those who have saved that week.

Quite a lot to digest in this weeks post. Layout for next year looks good. And saver of the year contest sounds well cool - I'm looking forward to voting already !

I had another decent week, and am now very close to my year end target of 3K HP - will probably actually hit it tonight. And I cant believe we are so close to the end of the year now. Its time to dream up our targets for 2023 ! Heres my post for the week:

https://leofinance.io/@hoosie/saturday-savers-club-progress-week-38-11-12-22-very-close-to-hitting-annual-3k-hp-year-end-target

Best of luck to everyone for the week ahead - keep on chipping away at those targets !!!

I forgot about that bit ! Thats a potential actually. Would be happy to discuss. I probably couldnt do it that regularly, but every quarter or something (in order to keep content valid and non-repetitive). I'd run out of ideas too quick if it were more frequent !

Re: changing the format, I think that would be wonderful, actually. Maybe it's just my distractible self, but I struggle with the current format. So much of the post is the exact same text that I'm not going to read again every week, but finding the new text is a challenge because it isn't differentiated enough. I realize you want the explainer text to be in there for any new members, but it just becomes a wall of text that I have to sift through to me. So my biggest suggestion would be to differentiate the copy-paste-every-week text from the new parts. So maybe like:

Normal text you say every week explaining what the contest is - and this week's winner's are this person and that person, hurrah! ... or something?

It's totally possible it's just me that finds that hard to sift through, but since you were asking for format ideas! <3

I find it hard to sift through and I write it!
The post format kind of evolved this year as different things happened.

I'm thinking have all the new stuff (each week) stuff at the beginning and everything else lower down as information, that people can refer to if they want/need to.

What do you think of @lauramica's idea about having a raffle each week for people who do contribute the agreed amount ... in my head that makes things a bit more formal. There's pros and cons to more formal/ less formal, but I'm wondering if as the third year it's time to say step up a bit more?

I like the idea. Wondering tho if it's only in line with the 365 goals or whatever that individual's goal is? Because I think it would be more inclusive if it could be "if you met your goal this week," since not everyone is going to do the 365. However that might be a bit of a pain to deal with. You'd have to have everyone state their goals and then break it down per week for you, and then include in their comment/post if they met that week's goal or not, and trust that they aren't fudging the numbers, lol.
Since I know my post income fluctuates so much, I prefer to set the long term goal and accept that some weeks I will surpass a week's worth of progress, and other weeks I'll fall short. But to have a raffle to enter on the weeks where you make it might be good motivation to say, post more.

Yeah, you're highlighting the very problems there 🙂.
I left it very relaxed this year because the 365 isn't for everyone and I wanted to be inclusive (because saving's saving, however you do it) and, on the other hand, I don't want to burden other people (or myself - I'm still haunted by the treeplanter round robins 😂) with something that gets in the way of saving.

My idea about the way we do it now was just to make it as easy and as fun to do as possible, so the journey is enjoyable and you get savings as a bonus. Some people will make it and for others, well, other bits of life will come up. I don't want anyone to feel bad because stuff happens, that seems counterproductive, when another time, in the future, it could be possible for them but they are reluctant to have a go because it didn't work out last time.

Hmm, I think I've talked myself through that 😍

Well, when I proposed the raffle it's true that I was thinking about the 365 savings plan where there are defined amounts week by week, and also thinking about savings in the savings-wallet where the data can be verified. Any other saving format would complicate things 😵 @shanibeer @phoenixwren .

a cold wave there and a heat wave in Argentina, it's good to see the savings grow, I'm a little behind with my payments but I will continue until I reach the goal and maybe expand a little more, the interest on saving is very good and They help me plan for the future, I love the savings community

I think it makes sense but I have been adding to my position every month so I wonder if it will affect the schedule. It does look like the drop in Hive price has kind of hurt my chances at catching up to my HBD goal but I did invest more HBD at the start of the year. So I think I will be able to invest the required amount.

Thank you very much for the prizes.
I like the structure and it makes sense to me. I would add a section of small tricks to save but maximum a line or two. Example: "walk to work or by public transport"
I continue another week in 100% HP mode and my power continues to grow day by day. Here I leave my report

Seems like a good design to me. I would perhaps add some kind of quarterly challenge with savings incentives.

It will be difficult to nominate people next week, everyone has done very well.

My week was very similar to the last ones and it is clear that I will not achieve my extended objective but I am not going to complain when I have overcome the initial challenge with a lot. I have the intuition that the coming year will be tremendous in the crypto world.

Thanks @shanibeer for the format, i think that will help us to be more systematic.
I can't believe how i manage to come this far in my savings though I only started halfway or close to 3rd quarter of the year.

I can't thank you more for onboarding me to this and walking me through my savings journey. Savings need motivation and spurring on. I was thinking if we can share our saving methodology with each other rather than just pure numbers. Like share what are good opportunities and what kept us on track to meet our goals.
