Amigo here in Venezuela we use the Bolivar, but it is an unreliable currency because it devalues in a matter of hours, for that reason Venezuelans buy dollars to protect our money from inflation.

I was referring to old silver and gold coins. Such coins trade at the price of silver and gold.
Old silver and gold coins are often held as hedges against inflation.
The site Conflation says that the melt value of old US dollars is currently $14.91.
If I were looking for a hedge against inflation, I would consider silver over the US dollar.
In some countries it is difficult to hold silver and gold.
