My First Cochet Rose
I would say this is the first tinr I'm making a rose buuuuuuuut. Rewind to almost 8 months ago when I tried to make my first crochet roses ever.
Making the rose was a success actually. I used velvet yarn. It was so cute and fluffy but I joined it before adding the stem so it was constantly poking the center of the flower.
After a while I gave up owning the fact that yeah I should have seen a tutorial for how to join it. Maybe it would have turned out better. Not maybe it would have actually turned out better
So yesterday. Was it yesterday. Damn I have a problem with dates. But yeah should be two days ago I came across this tutorial for a crochet rose. It caught my eye honestly. For the past month or two months most designs I've sketched have floral designs on them.
I heard every designer has that phase where one thing just sticks and that I shouldn't try to ignore it so I don't get creative block. So if i get the idea I should pen it before it vanishes.
So when I saw this tutorial on YouTube I was like how bad could it possibly be. I have not made a rose in almost a year but then it won't hurt to try then do it right at the same time.
Picked my colors first then saw the videos from beginning to ends first before I started working on my own part. Almost tge whole time I was making this I already knew I was not going to keep it.
Not because I didn't like the flower or anything but most times if I make something pretty and I know I might not have where to keep it so it'll be seen or worn so it'll be seen I give it to someone else so they can give it the attention it needs.
I know that just sounds weird but yeah that's sort of how I function. I don't like my pieces to be forgotten or unused for almost forever. I chose to give it to my sister. She literally owns a whole lot of crocheted items so adding something new to the collection sounded like a sane idea to me.
Once I had the person I was gifting in mind trust me I went to work with this rose. It honestly was not as difficult as I thought it'd be so it made me faster and more giddy about tge making process.
When I finished making the rose itself I made the petals and my cute baby came out pretty.
I used the shell of a pen as tge stem. That was the only strong thing in sight. I then used a 7.0mm hook to make thick chains and I glued it to the pen that's how I made my official first crochet flower.
Things I used to make this corset top:
4.0 mm hook for the flower and petal and stem
Stitch markers
3 40g yarns (only different colors)
Scissors
Measurement tape
Ps: these pictures belong to me and we’re taken with my mobile device.
