I Made A Crochet Shirt
#needlework
Hello my fellow needleworkers, I hope you all are doing well and you had a lovely day.
I decided to finally post this today because, well, I think it was time I let it out of my drafts.
A client sent a message to me that he wanted to make a crochet shirt and was not so sure of the design he wanted.
He asked me to send a few inspos so it can guide him or probably give him insight on what he wanted.
When I sent them he took a liking to a black and white shirt I sent (I was praying he picked it because it looked really pretty and I wanted to get my hands on it).
He did eventually and yes I was excited that I would be working in this (for most people that don’t know I’m a huge fan of black and white).
When he made payment I went into this. I won’t lie when I say I dropped all the other projects I had and started working on this shirt asap.
Let’s not panic, yeah I have assistants so they simply took over the ones I left so there won’t be issues with the workflow at the shop.
I went on to make this shirt, yeah and every bit of it was just amazing (I love projects that involve color changes and for some reason it makes me do the project faster because of how fun it is).
The issue I had was picking the hook to use because I wanted it to be light but not too light and also not spacious or thick too so it was a lot to think of.
At the point where I was trying to pick the hook I didn’t start working yet because I didn’t want to frog the stitches (yes I dread this process with my life).
But when I started I got a hang of the 4.0mm hook and it was going really smooth. The color changing was fun. I finished the two panels of the front and went on to the back.
The first issue I had was “should I keep a blank space for the neck space or should I join to an extent and let the collar take the rest.
The reasonable option was joining to an extent and making the collar with that space.
When I finished the front and back panels I went on to make the sleeves (they looked so short and pretty).
Joining this was good too because honestly I was only anticipating the final look and I couldn’t contain the excitement.
I don’t think I’ve ever been excited about an outfit like this before. I told myself this is one I will make for myself and that literally never happens or almost never happens.
Fun fact is that I never got bored while making this and honestly that’s a huge flex.
I finished joining everything and yes. Es muy bonito!!!!
- 4.0 mm hook for the body
- Stitch markers.
- 14 balls of 40g acrylic yarn
- scissors
- measurement tape

This is crocheted so well and uniformed that at first glance I thought it was fabric. It looked like a shirt that was sewn together. Excellent work @doreenarch! I know what you mean about having fun with color changing. It really makes the job a lot more fun.
