I Made a Crochet Ragged Shrug
I Finally git to make this ragged mesh shrug for myself and I'm thrilled because it was ine of those things I had on my crocheting to do list and now that it's done I feel extra giddy to share it with you all.
Let's start with what inspired me to make this. There is not a particular thing or person. It wasn't a line , oh this kerson made it. I want it too. Or this shrug should be mine. Naaaaa it wasn't any of that.
I dunno if you all know of this rule that when you see something a lot of times, after a lot of times it will stick to your subconscious with or without your permission. I think that's what happened here.
There was a time here in Nigeria that when you open your WhatsApp you'll see ragged mesh shrug everywhere.
You open your tiktok see it also on different people. Go to Instagram and see crochet artists or vendors and clients posting about it so it just stuck to my head and I finally made it when the trend died down.
I don't know if it's just me, but when I see something everywhere I don't do it or get it or make it in that period. I sort of wait for the hype to die down then I get it.
This only happens I'd I really liked the item though. If I don't, I'll just leave it entirely.
Anyways the making of this was just like making a regular mesh shrug (the measurements I mean) the only difference was that with this I had to skip spaces so it will have the ragged look in question.
But other than that the making process was similar to a regular shrug.
The initial plan for this shrug was that after I finish making it I'll add some yarns on the body and it'll Dangle so I can get that street wear look but as per usual I loved it without all those so I ditched that whole idea.
When I finally finished it up all I had to do was cut out some ends and my baby was ready to wear.
Take this from someone that hasn't used about 5.0mm to make a shrug yeah.
When I used 7.0mm I loved the outcome. Also the shrugs didn't need blocking because it was already moving like a regular for it wasn't stiff at all and honestly it felt really light on my skin when I tried it on sk I think for my personal projects I'll stick to my 7.0mm a little longer.
Things I used to make this squares and patterns for the skirt :
7.0 mm hook for squares and cables
Stitch markers
5 40g yarns [ allblack ]
Scissors
Measurement tape
Ps: these pictures belong to me and we’re taken with my mobile device.
Our shrug🤭🤭😄
Again, it looks lovely.
Ps: you didn't give me gist about day 2 of the event.
I'm sorry, my boss. On my way to your dms.
😌😌
Oh yeah, I remember those times actually. I think I got a lot of money just from making those shrugs. This is pretty Doreen. I rushed here to see the cable pattern skirt though.
Ohhh and skinnnnn😍
Oh my. I've been so busy I didn't take pictures of the finished skirt. I'll definitely send it through this week. Thank youuuuuuy. Now I'm here grinning. 😁😁😁
Alright, you’re welcome
I'm fascinated by the intentional holes you left in it, it makes it very authentic and with a lot of personality. Nice work.
Thank you so much. I'm glad you like it.
Hermoso trabajo amiga. Bendiciones 😘.
