Crochet Odumodublvck Inspired Hat
A client texted me and said she wanted to get a custom Odumodublvck hat for herself but wanted to add more ruffles to it since the original design is masculine and has less ruffles( more like almost none.
I told her it was possible to make the changes she wanted on the hat and I asked when she wanted it.
Few business people hide the stress behind different orders I do too but I want to go with a diff approach today.
Firstly this client has never ordered from me before and this is not because she hasn’t liked anything I make but she always wants to pay way below the cost price for a fit or anything she sees and that’s a no no for me because it won’t be fun to work on a project that is a paid job but just doesn’t feel like you were paid at all.
Secondly before she made payment and after she would drop comments like “let it be nice”, “I want exactly what I sent”, “let it not be different “ , “it should be fine o” (not the exact ways she put it but yeah, felt like she didn’t trust me enough to expect a good outcome but then she’s seen similar things on my feed)
When she made payment for the fit I started working on it. Was not so hard or it was very easy to get what she wanted. Like the exact pattern. I finished the base and went on to the body of the hat. Most people find switching colors in between projects very tasking, I mean I do too sometimes but this one was different. It was really fun to work on.
I finished the body and yet again was stuck with trying to decide the increased number I’ll use for the ruffles.
I won’t say this part was hard. I was just indecisive since I wanted to mirror the picture she sent to me. I finally decided to stick with 3 increases and I changed my stitches from half double to double so it’ll have a bigger outcome.
Made the first row and it was already giving what I envisioned (I was so happy because what would I have done if that was not the right one).
I went on to adding four more rows to the first row of increases ( the 4 extra rows were normal stitches and had no increases)
I finished the hat and then came hiding the yarns that were sticking out. I always forget to take pictures of this I honestly don’t know why.
I hid the yarn and sent a picture to the client(I always do this when I finished a paid job) and she loved it which made me really happy because I didn’t know what to expect.
This is a list of the things I used to make it:
*4.0mm hook for the squares
*darning needle
*3 balls of 40g yarns
*measurement tape
Ps: the pictures here belong to me and we’re taken with my mobile device.
This result is beautiful, I love the hat, it looks very feminine. That's great, your client liked it.
It is difficult to deal with clients, most do not economically value what a woven piece can cost, I think it is because they do not know everything it takes to complete a project.
I'm glad you were happy and how wonderful it was that you will enjoy the change of thread colors.
Good job.
I’m really happy she loved it. Thank you so much for appreciating my work.
