Creating Patterns for wallpaper in my studio, and distractions IRL and digital.
Today's little post card I send out to you has us in my studio drawing up herons and flowers and playing with patterns for wallpaper and fabric.
Of course we start the day, as I always do this time of the year, in front of the fire with a pot of hot coffee and some reading material. No tech allowed during this time.
I always make the morning time tech free at least for the few hours before the sun rises. As we are early risers, I steal those moments of not quite day or night, for the old ways: fire, actual books or magazines, and hot coffee in china cups
However, in this very video I am in my studio using digital tools. One cannot fault them and the digital world, yet I also begin most of my art with pencil, charcoal, pen stabs and scratches on little journals and pieces of paper. Sometimes I'm even bold enough to sit on the shore and sketch the old-fashioned way however, if you think working online is distracting, try sticking with a theme in your sketch book when a gull is dropping his bivalve breakfasat on a rock or the movement of seaweed in the shallow tide is mesmerizing.
Do you take any moments of your day without being plugged in? Of course I'm not deriding tech, I'd be fool to do so when one considers here I sit typing away this little "post card" to you. But, one does like to have a "balance" of sorts.
Well, I hope you enjoy this little video jaunt in my day. Until next time remember to cherish your little moments of peach and calm and as always remember to stay creative.
