Miss Emily Dickinson has been completed

Tho I'd every intention of leaving her black and white, which I have done as well, messing about with colors in digital always inspires me.

This is her current complete form as made onto things this week

This is because my Ladies of Literature series will be in black and white as it was inspired by my Virginia Woolf piece I shared previously

But, now I've had such fun playing with color with this finished Emily piece, I'm considering going back in and doing so with Virginia. Thus my Ladies of Literature may be both in black and white and fun colorized versions.

You may recall in a previous post the sketchy stage of Miss Emily:

She was sketched and laid out and then given a quick treatment of dark and grey paints

I happen to also like her in her sketchy form, so who knows what they might create in the end.

I love to keep all iterations of my process work as one never knows when they will suit being made into things

Just as these fun versions of Emily might be something one day. It was just fun to mess about with the color once I'd set it in place.

She's rather a bit like Alien Emily

That is the joy of going digital later on in work as one has the freedom of graphic design in may forms.

Now back to the Black and White Emily Dickinson
For whom the original sketch was made. As Virginia Woolf sells fairly well, I knew she needed some compatriots which is why the "ladies of literature" idea was born.

I think the graphic black and white just looks good and clean on things

From the most obvious (to carry one's ladies of lit books in) A Bag

and of course Tee shirts

I Happen to really like the All Over Print Shirts

And sometimes I will design them with more detail on the back and the sleeves, this time I really liked the bold graphic lines to mimic the wallpaper, don't you? And the contrasting of the black stitching on the sleeves and the half black collar.

Of course phone cases and skins are always a good way to change out your personal art and style.

I do think that the black and white really does lend itself to housewares

I Think it'd be a fun Tea or dinner party if you mixed and matched the various 'literary ladies' so I'd better get busy creating more. I'm thinking my next might be Vita Sackville-West or one of the Bronte's not sure. I've a long list of many other's favorites gleaned from my various social medias, so I think I could work on them for a few years.

It's nice having such a project going on in the background over a period of years
As in between all the other art pieces I am always creating I can have a 'palette cleanse' and think, "Today I'll just be in black and white making one of my literary ladies".

I do think I'm going to actually order miss Emily for myself in the ceramic travel mug because I need a new 'safe' drinking cup for my studio. My open dainty tea cups keep ending up with brushes full of watercolor in them...I think all artists do this.

Well, I hope you enjoy Miss Emily Dickinson in her final(ish) iteration in black and white. I cannot guarantee I won't be using her color form in some things in the future, it's fun to do and I rather like the results thus far.

I hope you find a moment in your day to indulge in your own passions and as always, remember to stay creative.
