This is a character that first appeared in February 1992 at the height of this collector's comic reading of many DC titles. The Ray is depicted in his first appearance in the comic cover below.

It was a welcome delight to find that Mattel made an action figure of The Ray because he is a relatively obscure character that never really became as popular as many of the other mainstream DC comics characters. He was briefly a member of the Justice League, whose roster at the time of his joining comprised a bunch of other obscure characters as well.

The character has a bunch of light-based powers and one of them is flight.

The rendering of the contrast between the blue and the gold on a white background is a real treat by Mattel, especially since this toy line had some really bad releases.

Posing this one around on a flight stand is a real stress reliever.

In spite (or maybe because of) his relative obscurity, this collector enjoyed this character a lot and hopes he will make more appearances. It is hoped that his other obscure teammate, Bloodwynd, also debuts in action figure form sometime in the foreseeable future.
