The Sculpture Park Tatebayashi, Japan Part I
Happy Wednesday! Mine is coming to an end but I thought I would get this post out. I took the photos for this post on two different days as I didn't have the time to do it all in one take. Let’s get started with day 1.
Day 1, April 5th, 2022.
Interestingly the sculpture park is located right by my new workplace. During lunch I decided to take a walk in the park across the road, oblivious as to what I was about to behold. Luckily I was walking with my camera. The plan was to take some pictures of the blossoming Sakura.
This will mainly be a photo focused post and I will be giving my thoughts on the many pieces that can be seen in this park. I think I got a shot of them all, some more than others 😌. Enjoy!
Women and children sculptures dominated in the park. This piece depicts a mother and child attached and their is a wind effect with the stones. In my mind, they are weathering the storm.
This piece above was given the name, "Tatebayashi Flower" and I feel represents the blooming of the small town.
This sculpture of a young woman in my opinion depicts the blossoming of a girl to a woman. I find it interesting that the sculptor detailed the nipples, hence my opinion.
Admiring the female body at all stages is definitely captured in this park. I see the sculpture as depicting a woman entering middle age and being comfortable in her own skin.
Here we see a mother holding what I believe to be a child. All the emotions bringing the mother to her knees. All she wants to do is protect and nourish her offspring.
The youths joyfully playing together. The one on top, jumping off the back of the lower representing support and teamwork.
This one, I do not know what to make of it, but abstract art. It did bring some contrast.
To me, this represents the failures the children will face at some point in their lives and the exhaustion that comes with being alive.
The sculptures were not the only things that were great, but the landscape was well kept and they chose specific plants to add to the aesthetics.
An angel relaxes in the sun while her vase of glory nourishes the beings of the land (zoom in for the bird on the vase).
Another abstract piece. I like it, the symmetry and materials used makes it look modern but at the same time classic.
This was one of my favorite sculptures of the day. I like that someone decided to leave red flowers on the upper layers of the body. There is a flowering tree right next to the art that was blooming beautifully. It really brightened up the piece, naturally.
This abstract piece, something about this one reminded me of ancient clan symbol. It also reminds me of the letter A.
This one was interesting, I like how the inside seemed padded while the outsides were flat. it also reminded me of a crystal/ gem stone cavity.
The purple flowers just spelt out the word spring to my eyes. The tall Matsushima Pine trees provided all the shade needed, it also made you feel like you were a small spec in this huge space. Many people walk here daily and I see why.
Had to have the musicians. I like how he is just there sitting on the bench playing the sax. When I first saw this piece, there was a lady sitting beside him taking in the scenery. I wonder what they were talking about.
Here is the final piece of day 1. It was very shiny and hard to get good angles as it reflected light. It is quite a contrast to the towering trees. It seemed like a UFO tool was left in the middle of the forest.
