Mucho se habla de la voluntad, la disciplina y la estrategia en la vida del emprendedor. Pero sin el apoyo de madres, padres, hermanos, abuelos, tías, primos y parejas sería imposible conseguirlo. La familia es la fuerza y la razón de ser para cualquier persona que busque construir un futuro mejor.

Soy el menor de dos hijos varones nacidos en uno de los tantos hogares cubanos. La típica familia nuclear: mamá, papá y nenés. No por cumplir con el estereotipo ideal, dejamos de sufrir (y enfrentar) las necesidades propias de cada día.

Pero mi mamá siempre nos enseñó a batirnos en la adversidad y salir victoriosos.

Sagitaria acérrima.

Trabajadora incansable.

Intensa tanto en la risa como en la cólera.

De mi mamá aprendí a no temerle a la vida, trabajar en los detalles diarios del día a día. Aprovechar las oportunidades y “formar mi agosto” cuando la suerte me sonría.

Muchas veces me han elogiado por mi tenacidad y mi compromiso. Son cualidades que no me cayeron del cielo. Mirar cada día a una mujer de 66 años, y jubilada, inventarla en el aire para que la comida no falte, para que la ropa esté siempre limpia, para que mi casa siga siendo un hogar.

Para que yo pueda plantar mi trasero en una silla y me juegue la lotería de la Internet.

Lo hace porque me quiere y aunque no espera nada de esto, si me hace feliz a mí, ella se queda tranquila.

Por eso emprendo online desde uno de los países más complicados para hacerlo.

Por eso voy a tener éxito, no importa qué se interponga en mi camino.

Por eso en 2024 le voy a sacar chispas a la E de emprendimiento.

Porque no se trata solo de mí. Tengo a mi vieja que me mira desde la cocina y sonríe.

Yo tengo a mi madre. Sin su apoyo, no existiría yo ni estas palabras.

Much is said about will, discipline and strategy in the life of an entrepreneur. But without the support of mothers, fathers, siblings, grandparents, aunts, cousins and partners it would be impossible to succeed. Family is the strength and the main reason for anyone seeking to build a better future.

I am the youngest of two sons born in one of the many Cuban homes. The typical nuclear family: mom, dad and baby. Just because we comply with the ideal stereotype, we don't stop suffering (and facing) our own daily needs.

But my mom always taught us to fight through adversity and come out victorious.

A staunch Sagittarius.

Tireless worker.

Intense in both laughter and anger.

From my mother I learned not to be afraid of life, to work on the daily details of everyday life. To take advantage of opportunities and "make my partie" when luck smiles on me.

Many times I have been praised for my tenacity and commitment. These are qualities that did not just fall from the sky. To look every day at a 66 year old woman, and retired, to invent her in the air so that food is not lacking, so that the clothes are always clean, so that my house remains a home.

So that I can plant my butt in a chair and play the Internet lottery.

She does it because she loves me and even though she doesn't expect anything from it, if it makes me happy, she's ok.

That's why I'm starting an online business from one of the most difficult countries to do it in.

That's why I'm going to succeed, no matter what stands in my way.

That's why in 2024 I'm going to spark the E of entrepreneurship.

Because it's not just about me. I have my old lady who looks at me from the kitchen and smiles.

I have my mother. Without her support, I wouldn't exist, nor would these words.
