This is the great Paseo Estación Central Shopping Center

There is a shopping center that has always gone unnoticed for me, it has been there for quite a while, fully operational, but I have only been there a couple of times. Now that I make this post I wonder why I do not take it into account, well, it seems that the answer is that I do not quite get the idea that a building that was formerly a large textile company and that for many years was in ruins is now a beautiful shopping center with a colonial look reminiscent of the years of yesteryear. So in this post I present the Paseo Estación Central Shopping Center.

It has this name because previously a train passed through the front (now Constitution Avenue) and precisely there was the central station, the train disappeared many years ago, but remained in the memory of the citizens as an interesting anecdote that has been told from generation to generation. And well, I must clarify that this story is significant and striking for the citizens of Maracay since there are currently no operational train lines in the city and that has always been a project that we feel is missing to modernize and improve the integrity of the city.

As I said before, the structure used to be an old textile company, but after many years of abandonment, it was restructured and rehabilitated to become a shopping mall. This refurbishment lasted a few years and during that time I was very curious to know what was going to work there since I used to pass by that avenue every day on my way to the university.

North side

Then, I will proceed to show you and detail the spaces that I consider the most outstanding of this mall. On the north side, is one of the two main entrances, from the first moment we can notice a lot of windows with silvered glass, the colonial style is evident and this is reinforced by bricks that, combined with the white color, gives the structure a very sober style.

South side

The other entrance, which is to the south of the structure, presents a substantial difference in color as it is completely white. I particularly like the way the mall looks from this angle as the white color gives this side a much more refined style and is also a break for the eye considering that the bricks make up a large percentage of the color of the building.

Right side

The right side is completely facing Mariño street, there are no entrances or accesses so it is basically a big wall of windows, bricks and white columns. Although it seems to be a simple space of the structure, it is impressive how it extends for so many meters uninterruptedly, it looks great.

Left side

Towards the parking lot we can see what is perhaps the most striking from the architectural point of view, there are small entrances and there we can see more accentuated colonial style. We can notice that the structure is very well preserved. I am still impressed by the large number of windows which are identical and give a sense of grandeur.

Internal part

The internal part is quite simple, the spaces do not have any strange shapes or structures and everything is limited to simple common areas. There are escalators, which are normal in shopping malls, and the food court is simple and small. The truth is that there is not much to highlight in these areas.

One of the most beautiful shopping malls in the city, because it mixes the old with the modern. Something I love about the interior of this place is that even the beams that shape the entire structure are the original ones from the textile factory, which as an interesting fact were brought from London, so in my opinion it is a perfect fusion between past and present.

It is a shopping center where computer and clothing stores abound, as you say the large number of stores sometimes do not give a chance to admire the beautiful structure. I also think that the food fair is somewhat simple, what I really like about this place is the fact that it has a lot of light and that contributes to a feeling of spaciousness.

The theme of light is an important factor, I really like that mall and the truth is that the theme is special, they knew how to take advantage of that space at the right time and I was able to capture every space at the right time, sometimes it is a little difficult to do it in a free way.

Dear Maite, I thank you very much for your kind support!

I love the color and the arch windows and door. They are classic and it looks really aesthetic from the outside. Comparing to where I am from, we don't have shopping malls like that, it's always tall towers with glasses and high tech. So, it's really refreshing to see a shopping malls with such unique architecture.
