Las Américas Shopping Center, a place that brings back many memories

Brown Aesthetic Vision Board Autumn Photo Collage Desktop Wallpaper.jpg

Hello dear community, it's been a while since I last shared something here and that may seem strange since I was posting weekly uninterruptedly for a long time in this prestigious community, and well, in reality the reasons are simple and is that there are not many places in my city that I can photograph to review them here, in addition, recently I have not traveled to other latitudes that allow me to know other structures that have architectural interest, so my activity here has decreased, but it is not at all planned to leave this community from which I have learned so much and that has given me so much joy, as I mentioned above, I never imagined that at some point in my life I would be writing reviews related to architecture.

So, getting down to business, I would like to introduce you to Las Américas shopping center, a place that at the time was revolutionary because it was the first modern shopping center in the city. It is true that there were other shopping centers, but they had a much lower profile, so when Las Américas was built it completely displaced the commercial activity that took place in the old shopping centers. For example, it was here that for the first time in the city we had a multiplex movie theater (eleven in total), since the other malls only had a single theater.

As seen in the photos, the exteriors are visually dominated by the front of the mall, I say this because the sides and the back do not stand out aesthetically, but that makes sense because the front faces Las Delicias Avenue which is one of the busiest and most important avenues of the city, so the access is quite centralized, however, to the sides there are other commercial establishments that do not allow access through these areas.

It is easy to see that yellow is the prevailing color in the structure of the shopping center; it has two shades that generate good visual contrast. The main entrance has a small triangular point that makes it striking and distinctive. To the sides there are also other entrances, but with a much lower profile. The mall is 4 stories not including the basement level which is quite large.

As far as interiors are concerned, I would say that these are quite spacious, nowhere will you feel suffocated even if there are many people around, the ceiling of each floor is quite high and the aisles are quite wide, but none like the central area which is undoubtedly the largest space in the mall, there you can walk freely and enjoy the light that enters through the large dome which I will show you later. The movie theater of the “Cines Unidos” franchise is one of the great attractions of the mall, since its eleven theaters fully meet the demand. There is also a large supermarket and clothing, shoes and electronics stores abound.

One of the things that make a good impression is the large dome or roof in the central part of the mall, it is structured in such a way that natural light enters during the day and has bluish tones that allow the light to be pleasant. I love how the dome looks from below, it looks imposing and infinite.

Visiting this mall after so many years brought back many memories of my adolescence, I would come here periodically with my friends to enjoy a good movie, to eat or just to walk through the large aisles in search of things that might be of interest. This mall has not changed much in appearance since it was built, but still retains an integrated and striking image. It was a pleasure to share, I hope to see you again soon.

It is very spacious and looks complete. I, who am used to getting lost in shopping centers, probably won't get lost here because of the neat layout.

This mall still has a lot to offer and continues to appeal to the whole family.

I didn't know it had 11 movie theaters, it never occurred to me to count them 😂 but it's an interesting detail, I don't know if at some point it has changed color. Las Americas is still a landmark in the city.

Your reviews will always be interesting and enjoyable. I almost never come but I have so many places in mind that when I go it's running and I don't stop to take pictures as I should. Whenever you can come back, we will miss you here. @dinaaczib 🤗

Hi @dinaaczib, the mall looks clean and in good condition, when I saw it my eyes focused on the logo of the store el castillo, it is one of my favorites, especially the haberdashery area for the great variety of products.

Greetings!

Hello @dinaaczib. It's a great pleasure to meet Las Americas Shopping Center, the pioneer of modern malls in your city! Its simple architecture has certainly stood the test of time, creating a timeless edifice that's still admirable until today. The yellow accents on its exterior are definitely eye-catching features, attracting customers to its commercial spaces. Its spacious interiors are also impressive, providing a shopping, dining, and entertainment destination for many more generations. ☺️

Amazing mall @dinaaczib! Despite its long history, this architectural masterpiece doesn't show obvious signs of aging and deterioration, giving the impression that it's still a more recent construction. Its commercial spaces are impeccable, organized, and functional - a valuable heritage of your city indeed! ☺️
