3 Tangible Things I'd Leave behind for My Next Generation.

avatar

Nobody is promised eternal life on this planet earth. We'll all have to leave someday, hopefully after fulfilling our life's purpose, goals or the task to be fruitful and multiply like God said after the creation of man.

However, we must make the most of our time here and it's not about how much we were able to achieve in life but how we were able to impact lives or how we were able to impart legacies to our next generation. Whether big or small, we are expected to leave behind good legacies to retain our honour and support the survival of our successors rather than leaving them stranded like lost sheep.

Now in response to the @hive-learners weekly featured topics for this edition, if I were to leave 3 tangible and beneficial things for my next generation, they would be the following:

  • MY WEALTH.

Of course, wealth can either be tangible or intangible, so to be more specific, I would leave behind my money, business enterprise and real estate properties. After all, I'm not going to take them with me when I die. As the benefactor of my successsors and in bid to save them hardship and stress, it is only right to do so. And if they make the best use of it, their next generation could also benefit as well.
The significance of liquid assets and real estate is boundless and it is generally beneficial for a worthwhile existence when managed properly.

  • MY FAITH.

I truly think that the word "faith" must be taken in a spiritual context in order to apply it in a powerful way. In the spiritual context, faith is tangible . It is something that can be seen and felt in the spirit. As a believer, I would pass on my faith and Christian beliefs to my children just as my parents did with me. Through the teachings of the bible, I'll make known to them the existence of our creator who is the giver of life and everything we own. I believe that knowing God and living by his commandments will be beneficial to their upright and substantial living.

  • A FAMILY ARCHIVE.

Naturally, most children wish to know more about their ancestors and family history but that information slips away with the demands of daily life. Not everyone finds this significant but in actual fact, it is.

Leaving behind family archives like self-written books, scrapbooks, photo albums, documentaries, genealogical research or even a collection of family recipes will serve as treasured records for my desendants and it will help mould a sense of family identity either consciously or unconsciously. By creating family archives and passing them on to my successsors, I will also be promoting our culture, tradition and principles as well.

In conclusion, whatever we do, we should put our future at best interest. Even as we strive to live life to the fullest and make the most of it, we should remember to pave way for our next generation for they'll need our support to live a befitting life. I for one hope to live and become my best version so as to make tangible impacts as well as leave these aforementioned legacies and many more to my successsors in the future.

I totally agree with you on this.
To make life easier, and to prevent them from making the terrible mistakes that we made during our time, we should leave something tangible and useful for them.

I’m glad you mentioned wealth and faith. Very nice.

Thanks for sharing.

Yeah... when people know more about their ancestors, they feel a stronger sense of belonging and they will have more value for the culture they represent.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
