The Coffee Dome

It has always been a dream of mine to create a soothing mechanism for my weary community. Crafted in my subconscious and molded in the fires of my imagination, it would serve as a place where tiredness meets it nemesis and the souls of the weary acquire its antidote.

A place designed in the shape of a dome, a Roman-esque edifice that would look like a bowl, covered up at the top with glass that allows natural lighting, nestled in the outskirts of the city away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It would be a safe haven for the mentally exhausted and the physically strained. A resting valley where they can rest on green pastures.

The aroma of sweet scenting coffee will be the signature of the Coffee Dome, wafting through the air and sifting through the veins of its visitors as they gain access to the facility and preparing their mind and body system for the experience that they're about to be treated to. A circular interior with seats arranged in twos, facing each other.

The relaxing seats won't have tables creating divisions, instead each seat would have side stools where your coffee will be served. This is to encourage the spirit of friendship and communism, to make it easy for people to meet each other.

The walls are decorated with some of the most exquisite arts of its time, ranging from nature, mystery, complex arts, motivations and even puzzles. It would be like a mini museum with the arts switched on a daily basis, creating different feels for each day. A therapeutic merry-go-round that would ensure that no matter how frequent you are at the Dome, you can never get used to it.

All round the hall will be five counters where your sweet scenting coffee will be served. But there will be no batista there to serve each individual, unless on personal request. Each customer would have to go to the counter and place an order for his or her preferred ingredients, which will be served almost immediately by a delivery cart rolled on rail-like path to the counter.

The customer will then prepare his or her coffee just the way they like it. Be it the black, bold and heavy or the mild and milky way or the light and sugary way, everything is in your hands to fulfill your desires the way you like it.

Maybe you're done with your coffee and you want something more relaxing, then up in the gallery you go where there's a spa with experienced masseuse and masseurs waiting in the wings to return your body to its optimal stage. A walk through the door welcomes you to a different world with dim lightings and soft soul music wafting through the speakers, driving your senses to sleepy grounds as the professionals get their hands dirty.

And just outside the spa door, a few meters away, there's a games room. A recreational space deigned to soothe the needs of everyone. There are the board games like scrabble and chess for the witty and calm gentlemen and active games like treble tennis for the active ones who prefer to get their hands dirty and their body sweaty.

This will be demarcated with mirrored glasses that are sound proof in order not to be a distraction to those downstairs who just want to chill and laugh with their loved ones or new friends.

On the right hand side of the entrance to the facility, just beside one of the counters is a door that leads directly to the basement where there's a coffee club. A live music scene filled with camaraderie and a fun and sweet atmosphere where people just come to dance their sorrows away or just have a romantic karaoke experience where the air is dominated by coffee, because it's the only beverage being served.

The Coffee Dome is a one stop place for everyone at anytime where all their weary minds is purged of the excesses of the society and revived for the journey ahead.
