Sarah's Curse
Sarah and I had a relationship that once bloomed with laughter and warmth. We shared dreams, secrets and giggles over countless cups of coffee at our favorite café. But as time passed, our differences grew more apparent, and our once harmonious symphony turned discordant, and was now on the brink of collapse
Sweet "good night baby" turned into "I'm sorry I slept off" more often than normal. Our jobs began to scrape at our preference charts, dragging us both down the table in the cloak of ambition and passion. Our little time to ourselves began to speak silence and self occupation, while communication became labored.
One moonlit evening, beneath the shadow of the oak tree in front of my house, I finally found the courage to end the relationship. I had invited her over without giving any clue as to my intentions.
According to her, she felt like she was invited into a trap and her eyes gleamed with an unsettling mix of sadness and anger.
"You'll regret this," she muttered, her voice laced with an eerie tone. "I'll deal with you, and make sure you never find happiness again."
I couldn't help but chuckle, attributing Sarah's words to her fondness for the supernatural. Yet, as the night slipped away and morning light streamed through my window, I began to feel an odd sensation. Each time I brought my cup of morning coffee to my lips, no liquid would pass. I stared at the coffee, dumbfounded.
The milk seemed to be floating on its own wavelength without mixing with the coffee. It's form seemed to depict a frowning face that was reminiscent of the emotions I observed on Sarah's face the previous night. As I was not a believer in the supernatural, I believed that I might be suffering from the post breakup stress.
But doubt began to creep into my mind as the day unfolded. I cautiously tried drinking from different glasses and cups but the result was the same — a bizarre resistance preventing me from tasting the simplest of pleasures. Panic gnawed at me, and a chilling realization set in. Was this Sarah's doing? Could she truly have cast a hex upon me?
Every attempt to reach out to her proved abortive and desperation drove me to seek answers on my own. So I embarked on a quest to lift the curse. I had heard stories of secret incantations from medieval times that linked to our little town and decided to start from there.
The town's library became my haven as I pored over ancient tomes, seeking guidance on breaking hexes. I learned of arcane rituals and whispered incantations, but nothing seemed to dispel the enigmatic curse.
I got driven deeper into the town's history, where I encountered a lot of interesting things that really opened my mind to the concept of the supernatural, but above all, I discovered an elderly and wise woman named Elara, renowned for her knowledge of the supernatural.
Elara's piercing eyes seemed to see through my turmoil. She gave out a smile that made her eyes glisten after listening to my story, and with a gentle voice, she shared the tale of a forbidden love that ended in bitterness and curses centuries ago.
She then decided to guide me through a series of tasks, each connected to an aspect of the ancient story. From mending broken friendships to reconciling with my past, I followed her advice diligently as I sought to heal my heart and break the hex.
With Elara's guidance, I realized that true power lay in forgiveness and self-discovery. I had carried with me a heavy heart that had made me skeptical and unable to give my best in the relationship for fear of another heartbreak. She opened my eyes to see that I was the reason for the relationship's failure and that was why the hex worked on me.
The final step stipulated that I stood before the same oak tree where I had broken up with Sarah. The moon bathed me in its soft glow as I took in deep breathes of hope, then I whispered an incantation meant to break the curse.
As I opened my eyes everything seemed normal and in place, but as I lifted the cup of coffee I held to my lips, the warmth that graced my lips sent shivers down my spine. How my body has missed that feeling. I went to bed that night grateful that my relationship with coffee has been renewed, never to be broken again.

That was a smart move to try to reverse the curse.
However, you turned the negative situation into a positive which made you evaluate your feelings and fear about relationships.
I guess that part is not so much of fiction
🤗
