Popolamama, A Home for Italian Fresh Pasta and Home Made Pizza!
Hello, friends especially foodies!
A hot sunny day recently, my bestie and I went to Popolamama, a place which well known to get Italian Fresh Pasta and Home Made Pizza. There were some reasons why we went there. First, both of us were curious because this place always has many customers when we pass through it. Second, not every place offers fresh pasta and home made pizza, right?
That day, at around 1 pm, as we already predicted, the place was almost full.
As you could see this place had brick wall, rich in Italian style like you could see from the fake windows and artificial flowers on the wall at the top of the brick wall. From the front, you could see some of their menu from the monitor they hung outside.
For the menu, they had some new menus influenced by Korean, gochujang, that they had in chicken wings, spaghetti, even pizza!
They also had their newest piccata series in chicken spaghetti or pizza. They also showed some of their menus there like bruschetta, fusilli, spaghetti, pizza and salad.
Now to their soup and salad; their soup were just cream mushroom and creamy tomato soup. While for their salad, the choices were more, they had chicken karaage salad, tuna and egg salad, grilled chicken salad, chicken Caesar salad, Japanese mushroom salad and popolamama salad.
For the side dish, the choice were quite vary. They had mini salad, sweet potato fries, french fries, bruschetta, pizza wrap with karaage, garlic cheese bread, original chicken wings, bbq chicken wings, sriracha chicken wings, smoked beef mac & cheese, combo karaage, seafood platter, Bolognese potato gratin, crispy chicken fries, waffle fries, truffle fries, mozzarella fries, chicken karaage and garlic bread.
For the pasta, they had soup pasta that you could never find in any other place, with the choices of chili tomato with seafood or tomato soup pasta with tuna and smoked beef. They also had Bolognese pasta there, pesto Genovese pasta, tomato based pasta, cream pasta and even aglio olio. Of course for each they had some choices of menus there. They also had lasagna, chicken pasta, chilli prawn pasta, fish & chips, seared salmon with lemon butter, dory creamy lemon butter, grilled chicken steak, coffee rub ribeye steak, and some choices of baked rice like smoked chicken and vegetables, seafood, Bolognese and salmon.
For the pizza they had two kind of the basic shape, which they determined as our style of pizza, crunchy thin pizza or thicker origin Napoli crust. For the thin pizzas, they had Italian sausage and mushroom, fresh tomato and cheese, meaty, hot pepperoni, and grilled herb and cheese. For the thicker Napoli, they had meat eater, Hawaiian style, chicken teriyaki, smoked chicken Arrabiata, spicy tuna mayo, classic margherita, diavola, marinara, creamy salmon, beef pepperoni.
Some of their pizzas could come in both style, crunch thin and thicker Napoli, with the choices such as tomato with cheese and rucola, cheese, dory sambal matah, Mexican “nachos” pizza, Bolognese, three Japanese mushrooms, formaggi, and smoke chicken genovese.
They also had Japanese infusion like how they served their rice with the choices of wafu karaage, chicken teriyaki, beef yakiniku, chicken curry and grilled salmon teriyaki. While for the rice with Indonesian infusion, they had chicken sambal matah and grilled salmon sambal matah.
Unique thing was they had sweet pizzas for their desserts, like apple cinnamon pizza, chocolate and cheese pizza, banana caramel pizza, and even fruit pizza! They also had ice cream (chocolate or vanilla) and also tiramisu.
They still had nutella doughbites, apple fritter, chocolate banan pizza and choco lava cake. And they had espresso and coffee, some kind of beverages, some kind of in carafe (for 2-3 people) and fresh juices.
After ordering, we did chit chat in their dining area which were rich in sunlight. The dining area itself, had motif ceramic floor, many artificial green plants with some wooden steel chairs and others rattan chairs. It was a comfortable, cozy place to dine in and chit chat.
And there, they had semi opened kitchen, so you could see how their chefs prepared your order. Look at the large oven behind them!
The menus that came first were cheese garlic bread, beef carbonara pasta and meatballs pasta.
Cheese Garlic Bread
With mozzarella cheese on the top and garlic bread on the bottom, it had cheesy not salty flavour of garlic bread, we regretted that the cheese they had was not salty at all, so it had only light savory flavour. The bread itself was soft and well baked.
Beef Carbonara Pasta
The fresh pasta (curly one, unique) was chewy but soft and it came with the creamy carbonara sauce and beef bacon. The cream was too heavy for me, too greasy, even the flavour was quite savory and it was fine. The bacons were a lot and I put on the chilli powder on mine so it became spicy.
Meatballs Pasta
The meatballs were tasty in savory flavour while the pasta came with tomato Bolognese sauce, so it had the mixture of the flavour between sweet, sour and savory. My bestie enjoyed it and I tried it too, yes it was really kind of Bolognese for us..
Here when we enjoyed it…
Actually the pastas and cheese garlic bread made us quite full but when we ordered, we already ordered a small size of pizza too so we were waiting for the pizza while hoping that our tummy weren’t full when the pizza came, LOL.
And here was their home made pizza, we ordered their
MEAT EATER
Meat Eater pizza had some meat toppings such as pepperoni, sausage, and bacon plus onion and paprika on the top. It came with tomato sauce and it had light savory flavour. It was not bad but it was also just okay…………… but it wasn’t fair cause we tasted it when we were full, right?
For the drink there we chose healthy no sugar ocha (green tea) which was fresh and calming.
So I recommend you to try their paste instead of their pizza in this place, and the question is when will you come there?
