Peking Duck and Dimsum Brunch, Yay or Nay!
Hello, friends especially foodies!
Recently I went to a popular Chinese Food Restaurant, named the Duck King. This time I tried their branch in Senayan City Mall, South Jakarta. And I didn’t go there alone, I went with the one I also call mom, she is mom’s best friend and she is also my toddler’s mother.
Looked luxury and classy, they didn’t sell cheap menus there.
At brunch time, around 11 am, the restaurant already had some customers before us. The place was quite large, it also quite nice with some sofas and soft chairs. Nice place to dine in.
Time to order, they gave their menu to us and I only took photos some of their menus. Look that they had dimsum, like shewmay, hakau (shrimp dumplings), xiao long bao (not available, unfortunately), beancurd skin springroll, fish balls, steamed buns, bbq chicken buns, chicken claws in pepper chilli sauce, and some other dimsum menus. Of course as the name, they also served duck which we ordered also.
The first menu that came were hakau. Their hakau tasted tasty in savory and sweet flavour with easy to break soft skin.
The second menu is all persons favorite, shewmay.
It had savory flavour, thin skin with real shrimp chicken filling. This was tasty too!
One of the best dimsum they had were their barbeque chicken buns.
The skin was soft and smooth, while inside it had super tasty barbeque chicken in sweet dominant flavour, this became my favorite!
We also older feng gao, the chicken feet.
It had spicy sweet savory flavour, not one of my favorite..
We also had their fried shrimp dumplings.
Tasted so good with soft thin skin, crispy but not hard. Plus it served with the mayonnaise that had less sour flavour than usually. Nice, I loved it too!
Now how about their specialty, Peking Duck!
The skin was tasty, we needed to wrapped it with the cucumber slice and sauce. It had sweet savory tasty flavour. The sauce was great.
The one that made me disappointed was because they served the duck cooked with lotus wrapped in lettuce late, plus the taste of it somehow was fishy, they needed to make reparation to the taste!
My conclusion, this place was a nice place if you want to have tasty dimsum, I mostly recommended their barbeque chicken buns. But for the peking duck, if they sold the crispy skin I will only order that cause they couldn’t cook the duck’s meat (I was a bit upset of it, cause before in their kelapa gading’s branch, it had super tasty flavour). So i think their dimsum were yay! The crispy duck skin alao yay, but unfortunately the lotus duck was a big no and no compliment for this complain...
